Donations, Cats and Dogs oh my

To continue our giving lessons with the children, today we went to our local Humane Society and brought over food, goodies and lots of blankets. The kids and I have donated a few times before, but this time Daddy went with us. The staff was very appreciative of the donations. There were many cats and dogs there for adoption. A few hamsters and a couple of ferrets. Made my daughter sad to leave all the animals there when we left 8(

No one has ever become poor by giving.

How nice to do that and involve your children. I'm a total supporter of our Humane Society. It's where we found our precious little Abby (there is a photo of her on my blog page side bar). She has brought incredible joy into our lives.

National Chocolate Chip Day

May 15, 2012 is National Chocolate Chip Day Today is National Chocolate Chip Day! Chocolate chips are an essential ingredient in dozens of delicious baked goods—chocolate chip cookies, chocolate chip pancakes, chocolate chip muffins, chocolate chip brownies, chocolate chip bagels, and many more. You can even find chili recipes that call for these sweet morsels! In the 1930s, Ruth Graves Wakefield created the original chocolate chip cookie at her Toll House Inn in Whitman, Massachusetts. Ruth intended to bake chocolate cookies for her guests, but she ran out of baker’s chocolate. She substituted with chopped up semi-sweet chocolate morsels and discovered that the pieces did not melt into the dough as she expected. Her cookies were an instant hit. Today, 25% of all the cookies baked in the United States are chocolate chip!
