I {heart} Freecycle & 1st Giveaway of the YEAR!

I am soooo excited to be the receiver of these awesome canning jars I found on FREECYCLE the other day.  My crafty mind is just spinning with the possibilities for them.  I have 15 of them....if you have great ideas that I can use them for, a link to your blog with a picture or idea, I would love to hear them.

If you have never heard of Freecycle.org (and I am sure some of you have not), you have now.  They are a grassroots and entirely nonprofit movement of people who are giving (and getting) stuff for free in their own towns. It's all about reuse and keeping good stuff out of landfills. Each local group is moderated by local volunteers (them's good people). Membership is free.

Personally I have benefited from giving things away and from receiving many great, useful things from FC members

****Now on to the giveaway...I am giving away 3 of these Ball Glass Canning Jars to 1 lucky follower!  I will ship them to you, my treat!

All you have to do is be a follower and post an idea that you would use them for. I will draw from the entries on Monday the 10th.*****

So check out Freecycle.org today and maybe you can find some trash to treasure for yourself!

This is the best idea,I have already made one and I am going to make more, one for the bathroom and one for lotion.

You take a soap dispenser from another cheap soap bottle but make sure that it is the right length(WAlmart sells singles)then drill a hole the same size into the lid and then seal it and paint in the color you want or leave it plain.Add your soap OR lotion. This is soooooo cute and soooooo simple.A ctue simple touch of country.

You will Love this idea too a candy jar one for M&Ms(just por them into the jar out of the bag along with other favorite candies and you will be set.

Blessings

I'd like to win! I'm trying to transition all my kitchen storage (coffee beans, coffee grounds, sugar, grains, etc) stuff into glass containers. I think it looks cool and I can see how much I have. But I do NOT want to buy the glass containers. I could get a good starts with three nice jars... :)

I am a follower.. and my ideas would be to use them as the center piece of our table. Then during each season put fun items inside like Halloween - candycorns, thanksgiving - brown items like buttons, december - green and red m and ms, january - cotton balls or stuffing to look like snow, feburary candy hearts, etc.

I'd love to use them for kitchen organizing, decorating (rocks, candles, fluffy stuff, etc).
I'm a new follower! It's nice to "meet" you! I love old jars. I'm hoping for a bathroom remodel this year and I plan on using these (or something similar) for Q-tips and cotton balls and soaps/etc. :)

I love Freecycle. I'd probably use them to hold sewing stuff, like buttons.

I love free cycle! I'd use the jars in my kitchen. The kitchen in our new house has some little shelves and I'm always looking for something to put on them. I'd fill these with some kitchen item and display them on my shelves.

I would use these for either craft supplies or baking ingredients. Oh, or maybe in the bathroom...Very nice! Thanks!
I am a new follower and I love your blog! I would place these on my kitchen counters for coffee and tea, or even better in my top kitchen window ledge were the light can hit that beautiful glass:)
Well, I would use them maybe for house plant starts that I have in plastic cups right now. Or, we have some really pretty colored stones that would look good in a jar! I am a follower of your site and I've thoroughly enjoyed your posts!

National Chocolate Chip Day

May 15, 2012 is National Chocolate Chip Day Today is National Chocolate Chip Day! Chocolate chips are an essential ingredient in dozens of delicious baked goods—chocolate chip cookies, chocolate chip pancakes, chocolate chip muffins, chocolate chip brownies, chocolate chip bagels, and many more. You can even find chili recipes that call for these sweet morsels! In the 1930s, Ruth Graves Wakefield created the original chocolate chip cookie at her Toll House Inn in Whitman, Massachusetts. Ruth intended to bake chocolate cookies for her guests, but she ran out of baker’s chocolate. She substituted with chopped up semi-sweet chocolate morsels and discovered that the pieces did not melt into the dough as she expected. Her cookies were an instant hit. Today, 25% of all the cookies baked in the United States are chocolate chip! To celebrate National Chocolate Chip Day, pick up a bag of chocolate chips at the supermarket and bake something yummy to share with friends and cowor
