Random Weekend - Lots of pics (warning...lol)

Hello everyone!  Are you ready for some football?    We are!  (ready for the commercials anyway...lol)  Our team (Vikings) are not playing ...booo whooo, so we are just watching for the fun of watching, commercials, nashing on good food (Stromboli, nachos and more...) and spending time together in front of the fireplace!

It was such a random weekend over here....so much happening in two days!  I will let the pictures tell the story...

Goodies for the kids during the game....

Since we are not "for" any team, we got generic tablewear...

Gotta have the beer bucket...although no beer will go in it (we have a keg-orator filled with Bud)

All set up on our bar...just gotta make the food....

Have to have something in there for the Vikings... 8(

Saturday morning....

My daughter had her 1st ever hair cut at the Beauty Shop (she calls it).  Surprisingly I did not cry!

Also the 1st time it was blown dry. Normally has a wave and some curl to it. Wouldn't you love those natural highlights...sigh...

She loved it! (and I do also)

Then I did a few crafting projects......

Trip to the Dollar Tree for a few more supplies to make a few more V'day decorations..

Epoxied them together....

I made two!

Broke out my new glue gun..LOVE IT..comes with a great rubber pad that it goes on so nothing gets on your table. Best part is I bought it with an Amazon Gift Card I got for doing some on line surveys...so it was FREE! (along with a pair of good fabric scissors too)

My 1st attempt at a Topiary ..

Not too bad...I can change it out for any holiday!

Little school work thrown in there too....

Daddy and kids worked on a project for school....creating a LEGO elevator

Nice job everyone!

Zachary made a hand mixer out of his Legos and he is mixing his chocolate milk.

Runs on a battery back. Worked great!

Sunday.....

My savings this weekend!

Went grocery shopping....spent $ 10 LESS than my weekly budget ($ 120 is my budget)...had to go to 3 stores and use lots of coupons but worth it!  In addition to that...I saved $ 40 on gas (what's up with the price of gas...come on!)  Our grocery store (Price Chopper) has a gas loyalty program with a Sunoco in town.  I had earned $2.20 off each gallon of gas (just for shopping with them) up to 20 gallon total!  Originally $ 60 in gas, came down to $ 20.23!

We also got out on the 4-wheelers in the sun and snow and had some fun!  I worked on a few things to get our taxes ready to mail out (nice refund thank you!)

How was your weekend?

National Chocolate Chip Day

May 15, 2012 is National Chocolate Chip Day Today is National Chocolate Chip Day! Chocolate chips are an essential ingredient in dozens of delicious baked goods—chocolate chip cookies, chocolate chip pancakes, chocolate chip muffins, chocolate chip brownies, chocolate chip bagels, and many more. You can even find chili recipes that call for these sweet morsels! In the 1930s, Ruth Graves Wakefield created the original chocolate chip cookie at her Toll House Inn in Whitman, Massachusetts. Ruth intended to bake chocolate cookies for her guests, but she ran out of baker’s chocolate. She substituted with chopped up semi-sweet chocolate morsels and discovered that the pieces did not melt into the dough as she expected. Her cookies were an instant hit. Today, 25% of all the cookies baked in the United States are chocolate chip! To celebrate National Chocolate Chip Day, pick up a bag of chocolate chips at the supermarket and bake something yummy to share with friends and cowor
