A Homeschool Moms Journey, Week 7

The Homeschool Chick

In my life this week...Week 2 of Weight Watchers On Line - lost 9 pounds so far!  HOLLA!

In our homeschool this week... We had a great week this past week with starting our month long Dr. Seuss Lessons. We are incorporating so many things into his books...Science, Math, Geography, Social Studies and more!  Also started our units on Massachusetts (State of the Month), Cats (Animal of the Month and Bones.

Places we're going and people we're seeing...We stayed put mostly this past week, with the price of gas locally at $ 3.65, who can afford to go anywhere.. 8(   Church was really great today....loved the message of obedience - studying Adam and Eve in Genesis.

My favorite thing this week was..hubby got his yearly bonus this week and   my mother emailed me with a surprise, early Mother's Day gift (you have to know her to appreciate that, she is always coming up with some excuse to buy someone something..)  I am waiting on the arrival of a new Silhouette Machine!  HOLLA!

What's working/not working for us...in the homeschool area – Molly seems to be getting frustrated more and more with writing. I really don't want her to practice just yet, but she is determined and I had to see her struggle. She is not even 4 yet but wants to bad to be like her older brother...

Homeschool questions/thoughts I have...just love to see the way God is working in the family !

A photo to share...

Zachary loving his flip chart on bones!

Good for you with the online weight watchers!!! I really need to look into that, because nothing I am doing on my own seems to work.

I enjoyed reading your journal, Melissa. :-)

Great job on the weight loss!!! Sammy is just now starting to want to learn to write. Have you tried doing things on a chalk board. What has been working for us is I will draw a letter. Sammy will wipe it off with his finger then try and draw it himself.

National Chocolate Chip Day

May 15, 2012 is National Chocolate Chip Day Today is National Chocolate Chip Day! Chocolate chips are an essential ingredient in dozens of delicious baked goods—chocolate chip cookies, chocolate chip pancakes, chocolate chip muffins, chocolate chip brownies, chocolate chip bagels, and many more. You can even find chili recipes that call for these sweet morsels! In the 1930s, Ruth Graves Wakefield created the original chocolate chip cookie at her Toll House Inn in Whitman, Massachusetts. Ruth intended to bake chocolate cookies for her guests, but she ran out of baker’s chocolate. She substituted with chopped up semi-sweet chocolate morsels and discovered that the pieces did not melt into the dough as she expected. Her cookies were an instant hit. Today, 25% of all the cookies baked in the United States are chocolate chip! To celebrate National Chocolate Chip Day, pick up a bag of chocolate chips at the supermarket and bake something yummy to share with friends and cowor
