School at the Bronx Zoo today...

One thing I (and the kids) love about Spring time is that our weekly field trips start up!  We try to do something away from the house each week at least once!  Today we kicked off our field trips with a trip to the Bronx Zoo.  We love this place and the kids are so familiar with it now they know where to go and what they love to do..Tons of opportunities for teaching also....we brought a friend and her kids too!  (nice that the membership lets you bring a guest!)

And we only did about 1/4th of the zoo until it was time to go.....

Zoos are so much fun, especially big ones like this. The last time I went to the Bronx Zoo I was a senior in high school visiting my now deceased grandparents. You took great pictures and love the ones of your kids with the big animal ears! Cute! Thanks for sharing on NOBH!

National Chocolate Chip Day

May 15, 2012 is National Chocolate Chip Day Today is National Chocolate Chip Day! Chocolate chips are an essential ingredient in dozens of delicious baked goods—chocolate chip cookies, chocolate chip pancakes, chocolate chip muffins, chocolate chip brownies, chocolate chip bagels, and many more. You can even find chili recipes that call for these sweet morsels! In the 1930s, Ruth Graves Wakefield created the original chocolate chip cookie at her Toll House Inn in Whitman, Massachusetts. Ruth intended to bake chocolate cookies for her guests, but she ran out of baker’s chocolate. She substituted with chopped up semi-sweet chocolate morsels and discovered that the pieces did not melt into the dough as she expected. Her cookies were an instant hit. Today, 25% of all the cookies baked in the United States are chocolate chip! To celebrate National Chocolate Chip Day, pick up a bag of chocolate chips at the supermarket and bake something yummy to share with friends and cowor
