A Mother's Homeschool Journey Week ?

The Homeschool Chick

I dont even know what week we are on as I have missed a few since my FIL passed away. We are busy though that is for sure!  Join me, Sue (The Homschool Chick) and other friends on our journey, won't you?!

In my life this week:   AWESOME Weather which made for a great school week for sure!  I am gearing up for the BBQ season as we love to host BBQ's with friends.  Memorial Day is around the corner and we just yesterday bought a new truck (new to us, used).  It's time to hand back in my leased Suburban so we had only a few weeks left to find something. Had a great "date day" with the hubby and found some "gems" at a little antique store!  I am down 21 pounds so far on WW and have about 35 more to go to hit my goal!  I am so happy with my discipline and how the Lord is leading me!   Also we are soooo happy to be one of the Top 25 Homeschooling Blogs on Circle of Moms.  Can't wait to share all that with you all!  Oh, in addition, I am now a writer for The Homeschool Village....wow I do a lot huh!

Our homeschooling this week:  We were able to be outside so much with just the best weather!  This coming, week, not so much 8(     We are still in the middle of our BUGS unit and starting Honey Bees on Monday. We had a great time with Ladybugs last week.  We are schooling year around but will take a small break somewhere in between.

Places we went and people we saw:  We were able to get back to the Bronx Zoo this week and had the most awesome time!   Hoping to get to some parks soon also! Last weekend for Mother's day we went tent camping to start the camping season!  Met up with friends and their kids!  Had such a great time! Can't wait to go again!

Favorite thing this week:   Seeing the kids at the Zoo was just great. They were SOOO well behaved and made it such a great adventure for us.

Homeschooling Questions I have:  Just wondering when we will start the next year (moving up a grade). Have to wrap my head around the Summer still!

National Chocolate Chip Day

May 15, 2012 is National Chocolate Chip Day Today is National Chocolate Chip Day! Chocolate chips are an essential ingredient in dozens of delicious baked goods—chocolate chip cookies, chocolate chip pancakes, chocolate chip muffins, chocolate chip brownies, chocolate chip bagels, and many more. You can even find chili recipes that call for these sweet morsels! In the 1930s, Ruth Graves Wakefield created the original chocolate chip cookie at her Toll House Inn in Whitman, Massachusetts. Ruth intended to bake chocolate cookies for her guests, but she ran out of baker’s chocolate. She substituted with chopped up semi-sweet chocolate morsels and discovered that the pieces did not melt into the dough as she expected. Her cookies were an instant hit. Today, 25% of all the cookies baked in the United States are chocolate chip! To celebrate National Chocolate Chip Day, pick up a bag of chocolate chips at the supermarket and bake something yummy to share with friends and cowor
