We GOT M.A.D. for our local Humane Society!

This week our church participated in a community wide outreach program called M.A.D. (Making a Difference)!  It was the tweens and teens going out to various homes helping people out with various activities from painting to gardening and more!   In order to get the "little" ones involved today we made natural dog biscuits for our local animal shelter (that is SO over crowded 8( ).  The kids helped make the biscuits (See recipe below) and also help with some back to school bags that will be handed out to those less fortunate for their back to school supplies.  I was SOOO proud of our children.  Here are the highlights...

Linking this up to No Ordinary Blog Hop - in conjunction with their International Homeless Animals Day awareness!

Zachary making some necklaces for kids less
fortunate then himself.

He decorated bags (on his own I might add) for the
school supplies.

Making the dog biscuit dough.

These were cheddar & garlic powder biscuits (see below for recipe)

National Chocolate Chip Day

May 15, 2012 is National Chocolate Chip Day Today is National Chocolate Chip Day! Chocolate chips are an essential ingredient in dozens of delicious baked goods—chocolate chip cookies, chocolate chip pancakes, chocolate chip muffins, chocolate chip brownies, chocolate chip bagels, and many more. You can even find chili recipes that call for these sweet morsels! In the 1930s, Ruth Graves Wakefield created the original chocolate chip cookie at her Toll House Inn in Whitman, Massachusetts. Ruth intended to bake chocolate cookies for her guests, but she ran out of baker’s chocolate. She substituted with chopped up semi-sweet chocolate morsels and discovered that the pieces did not melt into the dough as she expected. Her cookies were an instant hit. Today, 25% of all the cookies baked in the United States are chocolate chip! To celebrate National Chocolate Chip Day, pick up a bag of chocolate chips at the supermarket and bake something yummy to share with friends and cowor
