Pennies for the Planet...Great way to get the kids involved!

I just learned about this awesome program that the Audubon Society offers! It's called Pennies for the Planet! We as a family are participating this year! You can download your starter kit for FREE here!

It is a great way for your kids to learn hands on about helping fragile habitats and the animals who depend on it.

There are writing prompts, activity cards, skill builders....and more! The program runs until May 5, 2012 so it's something you can incorporate almost all "school year". I encourage you to go to the site and check it out. It looks fun, free and the kids can have a great time learning and raising pennies for the environment. I would love to see what everyone's creative ways are to raising Pennies for the Planet!

National Chocolate Chip Day

May 15, 2012 is National Chocolate Chip Day Today is National Chocolate Chip Day! Chocolate chips are an essential ingredient in dozens of delicious baked goods—chocolate chip cookies, chocolate chip pancakes, chocolate chip muffins, chocolate chip brownies, chocolate chip bagels, and many more. Ruth intended to bake chocolate cookies for her guests, but she ran out of baker’s chocolate. She substituted with chopped up semi-sweet chocolate morsels and discovered that the pieces did not melt into the dough as she expected. Her cookies were an instant hit. Today, 25% of all the cookies baked in the United States are chocolate chip!
