Football, Super Bowl, Eating Healthy - tips and recipes

The football playoffs are in full swing and the Super Bowl is coming up!

Even if you are not a "Fan" of the game, you still want to have those yummo snacks that everyone else is eating while watching. The hubsters and I are back on the wagon (me Weight Watchers) and that is hard when it comes to football season and snacking. I did some research and came up with some great LOW FAT (low points for WW users) that you can try at home and they are delicious!

Skinny Salsa Wraps:  2 Fat Free flour tortilla (believe me, they are better than the non-fat ones), 2 Tbls salsa, 4 oz fat free cream cheese, a spoonful of fat free sour cream and some Weight Watchers Taco Shredded Cheese - combine all but the shredded cheese and spread over 2 large FF flour tortillas, then sprinkle with cheese, roll up and put into the refrig for about an hour (you can go longer). When ready to eat, cut into small bite size rounds. Each round is only 1 WW point each! (should make 8 rounds)

Skinny Taco Dip:  1 8 Oz package of FF cream cheese (room temp), 1/2 cup FF sour cream, 1 package of taco seasoning, salsa, all the diff veggies you want (lettuce, tomatoes, olives, onions etc) and 1/3rd cup WW or FF shredded cheddar.  Combine the cream cheese and the sour cream into your mixer.  Mix well, then add the taco seasoning packet.  Mix and spread into a baking dish Let this sit in the refrig for an hour or more to "set up".    Then spread your salsa layer on, layer up all your veggies and sprinkle with 1/3 cup of your cheese.   Use small tortilla round chips or reduced fat Wheat Thins or even veggies for dipping. only 1 point per serving (should make 20 servings or so)

Veggie Dip: (great for dipping veggies..lol)  FF Sour cream and 1 package of the veggie soup mix (dry). Mix all together and let sit for 1 hour or longer before serving.  Only 1 point per 2 Tbls.  You can also stick a few WW string cheese sticks in there for some more fun!

Dessert Ideas:  Cut up strawberries and put a Tbls of FF Whipped Topping on them. Sprinkle with 1 Tblsp of mini Chocolate Chips.   Fat Free Jello Pudding Cups...OH YUMMO!

If you like to partake in some spirits, here is a low cal drink that is sure to make your mouth say yumm.  1 cup of Diet Ocean Spray Cranberry & Pomegranate juice 1 shot of Vodka and a twist of lime.  Shake over ice! You can also put a strawberry or two into the bottom of the glass!

Have a great weekend!

Be blessed!

National Chocolate Chip Day

May 15, 2012 is National Chocolate Chip Day Today is National Chocolate Chip Day! Chocolate chips are an essential ingredient in dozens of delicious baked goods—chocolate chip cookies, chocolate chip pancakes, chocolate chip muffins, chocolate chip brownies, chocolate chip bagels, and many more. You can even find chili recipes that call for these sweet morsels! In the 1930s, Ruth Graves Wakefield created the original chocolate chip cookie at her Toll House Inn in Whitman, Massachusetts. Ruth intended to bake chocolate cookies for her guests, but she ran out of baker’s chocolate. She substituted with chopped up semi-sweet chocolate morsels and discovered that the pieces did not melt into the dough as she expected. Her cookies were an instant hit. Today, 25% of all the cookies baked in the United States are chocolate chip! To celebrate National Chocolate Chip Day, pick up a bag of chocolate chips at the supermarket and bake something yummy to share with friends and cowor
