Farmhouse Friday - Curriculum Review

Welcome friends to a special Farmhouse Friday today.  I am excited to share a curriculum that I found that is fun and educational! This is not a new curriculum, but new to our homeschool.  Years ago, my sister in law passed on some school books and magazines that her son was no longer using and in the pile was was a few items from Highlights . They sat on a shelf for a while, until recently, and collected dust.  I finally got around to pulling some of it out and what I found was a gem!  There was this folder that said secret mission. I opened it and found a fun game/activity that I knew the girls would love.  After they completed it, I knew I had to look into ordering more for them.  Are you familiar with Highlights ?  I am sure you are.  We have used their magazines in our homeschool for years but never their adventure kits.  (in their own words..) For more than 70 years Highlights has been dedicated to helping families raise  Curious, Creative,

Farmhouse Friday

Welcome to Farmhouse Friday here at Woodwater Farmhouse. Glad you stopped by.  I am sharing some highlights from the last few weeks.  I turned 50 in late February and celebrated with my BFF and her boys, They came down for the weekend (2.5 hr drive) and we had a blast, as we always do! It was also two of her boys' birthdays!  Triple threat!  The weather has been up and down. One day nice and we get out and hike and the next 2 feet of snow. We take advantage of it when we can.  Molly has been crafting a lot and making these beautiful paper flowers. I finished my first book of the new year!!! Which is a big deal since in 2017 I never finished one 8(   I have the next one on order from the same author.  Kids finally got to go skiing with my hubby and last weekend. WIN!   My oldest and his family here for the night, since they lost power.  Always a treat when I can spend time with them.  Seeing Margaux in the snow was such a treat. Gra

Today we are coming at you from Finding Home Farms sugar-house.  I have blogged about them before a few years ago. You can catch up on them HERE.   Tapping maples trees is something that a lot of people in the northeast do, but Dana at Finding Home does it in abundance. With thousands of trees tapped, they have some of the yummiest maple syrup around!  (our family buys this syrup all the time for our home use and we bring it camping each trip!) The day was a little overcast, but not too bad, if you were properly dressed.  We invited two other homeschool families (you will probably recognize them from other trips ) to join us on our adventure at the maple sugar farm. Their new facility is sooo pretty and on point with the surroundings.  We started right outside the sugar house with a lesson on tapping and t
