Woodwater Farmhouse

We have had a good week here in NY. The snow is melting and the signs of spring are everywhere!  I am ready for the light coat and to put away my Uggs for the season.   Zachary worked on the Women and Children of the Revolutionary War - and some fun Scholastic - Super Science!  He is always working on his IPAD playing Scrabble, Words with Friends, Monopoly, Stack the States and Stack the Countries. The girls and I talked about what is happening outside with the plants and animals. Waking up!  Sammie also enjoyed this Sofia the First Unit. We had so much fun making our Chocolate Volcano Cakes from our Raddish box this week.   Of course some Spring crafting was in order. We made these easy cupcake paper and button flowers pictures. Also using some kitchen sponges (for stamping)  from dollar store to make these beautiful spring cards.  Thursday Science - again going to our Raddish box and finding a cool experiment. ...

Oh what a Tasty Thursday it is today!  I am so excited to tell you more about Raddish !  I invite you to check out my post from earlier telling you more about this fabulous product for your homeschool.  Chocolate Volcano Cake Of course the girls chose the Chocolate Volcano Cake to make from our Raddish box.   (kinda glad they did...) We started with our recipe card and all our ingredients. The girls had a great time learning how to whisk using our whisking card.  Lots of measuring going on and everyone helped with the cracking of the eggs. Great skills going on!  Ready to go into the oven....longest 11 minutes of our day waiting for these lovelies to cook 8) How cute is that apron!  Included with a monthly subscription. One of my fondness memories growing up was the fellowship at the dinner table.  It was a place where I knew we would recap the thoughts and events of day with the entire family.  This tradition has been carried on in my own home. Whenever possible, we eat as a family at our big farm table discussing the day.   What is that old saying.... Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day; show him how to catch fish, and you feed him for a lifetime. This is how I feel about cooking and kitchen science.  If the children understand how and why it all comes together each night, then they will be ahead of game when they have to cook for themselves.
