Farmhouse Friday

Happy snowy Friday from New York!  WOW did we get slammed yesterday with little over a foot of snow. Thankful that hubster can work from home on days like that.    It was beautiful to watch it fall and the kids got out for a little while to play but sledding was tough. It was a light powdery snow, hard to make trails.  The dog LOVES the snow. I posted a few videos on IG of her prancing around.  Last Friday the girls presented their SPACE projects at the monthly Homeschool presentation day at our library. There were six children who presented.   Sammie did her report on Astronaut Food and the history of it. Molly did hers on animals that have gone into space.  Both did well and set the bar high for future presentations! Next month's topic is HUMAN BODY.  On Saturday, a friend invited us to a local school play - Shrek Jr. !!  The girls, Bubby and I went. It was great!!  I was so impressed with the...

Farmhouse Friday

Happy Friday Friends!  Finishing up the last full week of January. Winter has come to visit this week after having a warm weekend last weekend.   Last Friday:   We all watched the Presidential Inauguration with Bubby. (this was school for the day) W e played Scrabble and UNO while we watched the new President being sworn in.   Lots of sunshine last weekend...we got out and of course Lilly got out too! Lots of reading too! Back on my good eating plan. So far so good!  I also put wine on a hiatus until further notice. I realized that I was really working out hard only to drink the calories later at night, going no where fast!  We finally finished our dart board and have been teaching the children how to play.  The game room side of the basement is coming together nicely! Monday night 3 inches of snow fell on top of an inch of ice. Hubby worked from home that day.  Kids were able to get out and go sled...

Farmhouse Friday

Happy Friday friends.  Did you think that this week flew by?  I did...Let's get right into what we did this week... Games..crafting and puzzles - lots of reading..concentrating on it with our 7 year old right now..she is interested and I am going with it! We are still loving our Scrambled States of America game! Its a game we bring with us often on vacation and out to dinner. Easy to transport and fun for all ages! (affiliate link) Week two with our chalk pastels.  ( affiliate link )  The one Sammie did was Mac and Cheese (her favorite) !   Molly has been sketching and her ability is beyond what I would think a 9 year old would be at.   Eric and I (and girls) are working on a project for our dart board. We don't want the darts to stick into the wall so we are creating a back drop for them (no judgement on how many corks we have saved up over the last 100 years...lol).  Also got to visit with my son and his family last weekend...

Farmhouse Friday

Happy Friday - the 13th friends!  Full moon and all. What a treat!  I hope you had a fabulous week and you are reading this blog post healthy and happy into the new year.  We had some illness at the farmhouse this week but all on the upswing now!  Let's jump right in.... In homeschool ...Penguins was on our agenda this week (when we were able to have school due to sick children) . We did a lot of reading and crafting this week... Girls made their own rubber stamps of something "winter". Sammie did a mitten and Molly a snowflake. They turned out good and fun for them to learn this craft.  Chalk pastels - can I tell you friends, I needed this art medium this week. I needed something to keep me occupied during some down time and when I NEEDED a rest from taking care of others (you ever get that way?) . If you follow me on Instagram you saw Molly's beautiful work as well.  The weather has been strange...snow in the beginn...

Farmhouse Friday No. 1

Welcome friends to Farmhouse Friday .  Each week I will be sharing with you what has been happening here at Woodwater Farmhouse , recipes, homeschooling and favorites from around the web. I hope you come in and hang out with me each Friday.  Today is Black Friday and it's the first time EVER that I can remember that I am not shopping!  That is because I am pretty much done except for a few on line purchases.  I want to enjoy the holidays so I was on top of it this year. Last week we finished up Thanksgiving teachings in our homeschool.  Some of it has been "fun work" and other times really hitting the books hard.  We only hit the books for Monday and Tuesday and the rest of the week was family time and prepping the home for guests. I was able to carve out some time for a little holiday crafting. Using what nature offers us here at the farmhouse, and some beautiful plaid and buffalo checked ribbon from Michaels, I made some...
