Today I am coming to you from our homeschool room.  I wanted to chat a minute about a wonderful new currciulum we started using from BJU Press . Our school year starts October 1st and we school all year round.  For New York State, I have to have my IHIP (In Home Instructin Plan) in to the school district by July 1st.  It's tough sometimes to know exactly what curriculum I will be using for the next school year since we have not finished the current one at that time. This year I was just not coming up with much in way of what I was looking for. I had Science on hold for now.  UNTIL.....   I was blessed in October to attend a homeschooling, blogging conference called 2:1.  One of the sponsors of this conference is BJU Press . Not only is this a fun craft that the kids can get involved but it doubles as Science class also!  We went to the local Dollar Tree and bought the silicone molds (they are really ice cub molds but worked great ). We went to Michael's and got the glycieron chunk and colors.  It was easy to do. Melting it took less than a minute, added the coloring, poured and waited for them to be hard ( 40 mins or so) . Popped them out and there you have it. We did not do scents this time, but will next time. They are cute and will be a great addition to the bathroom counter! We had some extra and poured that into silicone cupcake holders and made bigger soaps for the grandmas for a little gift when we see them! You could do any holiday, theme etc...sooo easy! I am so excited to bring you this Science Curriculum review today!   Elmer's has always been a trusted brand in our home. Even if I did not home educate our children, we would still have a closet full of craft supplies from Elmer's.  It's hard to believe that Elmer's has been around for six decades. Their products are helpful and I can always trust the Elmer's brand.   When I was asked to review this Elmer's World of Glue - A Cross-Curricular Investigation of Adhesives from The Elmer's Teacher Club , I was excited. It fit into our grade levels K - 5 for all the children in our home.  It can be adapted for 1 - 25 students. Don't we all get sucked in by the Dollar Spot at Target when we 1st walk into the store?! ( genius product placement huh !)  I found this little gem one day while trying to cruise by the rack...hmm...I'll buy that for a buck!  Well worth the dollar ! Zachary is loving the fun, simple experiments in the workbook! 4 tbls vinegar in plastic bottle 2 tbls baking soda into the balloon (before putting it on the bottle) place balloon on top holding the baking soda in the balloon by pinching it slowly turn over so that the baking soda is released into the bottle mixing with the vinegar watch what happens!
