Left foot, right foot, my foot, your foot

Today's Seuss teachings revolved around feet, as if you could not tell by the title of the post! 

 We encorporated Science, Reading, English and Math into today's Dr Seuss' "The Foot Book".  See how we did it!

1st we read the book - talked about it as we went...cute story! (Reading & English)

Then we got out our Skeleton Folder book that I made with our Bones unit in it. (Science).

Took out our work page on hands and feet & discussed.

FUN FACT: Did you know that over 1/2 of a human's total bones (206) are made up of hands & feet bones (106 total for the hands & feet together)?...True!

When you are born you have 300 but some fuse together to make 206 as an adult.

Then after looking at the physcial foot thru bones...we got out our "The Foot Book" worksheets page (I had laminated these prior)  each child got one (a different one) and an eraseable crayon to write on it with.

They had to "measure" the objects that were pictured on their worksheet using their feet and record their findings.

After that, we discussed who had the "longest" object and shortest and why the kids feet measurents were different for the same object.

We also started our unit on Massachusetts.   (happens to be where Dr Seuss grew up, Springfield MASS)

All in all, great learning today and no complaints from the kiddies!
