Much needed break!

Hello all - glad to be back in "blogland".  I took a much needed break last week and rested my eyes, brain and spent quality time with family and friends!  I am back and we are back to school this week.  Believe it or not it was almost 70 degrees here in NYC today!  I took the kids to the Bronx Zoo and we had a great time!  In fact, we did not even see another visitor there for an entire hour!  The place was empty!

This was the sky this morning off my deck...colors were indescribable.

The Polar Express is playing at the 4-D Theater at the Zoo.
We saw it last year and again today!

This picture was not taken with a zoom lens. This is how close you can get
to these apes.  Only a few inches of plexaglass between us.

Silverback - massive, in awe of him.

Right after the picture of the Silverback behind Zachary, Zachary moved and the ape
turned to the glass and started pounding on his chest. I would have thought
we were in a movie. SOOO COOL!  A little on the scary side....

I pray you had a thankful holiday week and looking forward
to what is to come!

This is the tree in our bedroom. We have 4 trees up so far in the house and 1 more to go!

Hi Melissa -- love your tree... I am sadly falling down on the job with one tree up (in our piano room - that's the main tree), and we have to get the two small trees in the kids rooms. But, that's it! :-)

I hope your blogging break was good. I'm taking it way easy with my blog, too - and it's freeing. I need time to play Legos, after all!

Love ya!

National Chocolate Chip Day

May 15, 2012 is National Chocolate Chip Day Today is National Chocolate Chip Day! Chocolate chips are an essential ingredient in dozens of delicious baked goodsā€”chocolate chip cookies, chocolate chip pancakes, chocolate chip muffins, chocolate chip brownies, chocolate chip bagels, and many more. You can even find chili recipes that call for these sweet morsels! In the 1930s, Ruth Graves Wakefield created the original chocolate chip cookie at her Toll House Inn in Whitman, Massachusetts. Ruth intended to bake chocolate cookies for her guests, but she ran out of bakerā€™s chocolate. She substituted with chopped up semi-sweet chocolate morsels and discovered that the pieces did not melt into the dough as she expected. Her cookies were an instant hit. Today, 25% of all the cookies baked in the United States are chocolate chip! To celebrate National Chocolate Chip Day, pick up a bag of chocolate chips at the supermarket and bake something yummy to share with friends and cowor...

Collage Friday and a Video

We have had a good week here in NY. The snow is melting and the signs of spring are everywhere!  I am ready for the light coat and to put away my Uggs for the season.   Zachary worked on the Women and Children of the Revolutionary War - and some fun Scholastic - Super Science!  He is always working on his IPAD playing Scrabble, Words with Friends, Monopoly, Stack the States and Stack the Countries. The girls and I talked about what is happening outside with the plants and animals. Waking up!  Sammie also enjoyed this Sofia the First Unit. We had so much fun making our Chocolate Volcano Cakes from our Raddish box this week.   Of course some Spring crafting was in order. We made these easy cupcake paper and button flowers pictures. Also using some kitchen sponges (for stamping)  from dollar store to make these beautiful spring cards.  Thursday Science - again going to our Raddish box and finding a cool experiment. ...
