EZ CRAFT - Make Your Own Olympic Ring Poster

In studying the history of the Olympics this week one of the fun crafts we did was to make this big Olympic Ring poster to display in our school room.

It was EZ and FUN!

What you need: (we got all supplies at the Dollar Tree)

1 poster board (we used a piece of foam core board)
Paper (we used crepe paper) in all the "ring" colors
Elmer's Glue stick
2 size bowls to draw the rings

What I did 1st was to draw the 5 rings on the board
Then we put glue around the ring a little at a time
Tearing the crepe paper up in tiny pieces and pressing it into the glue...
Continued this all the way around...

There you go...my 5 year old had fun helping but
I know that had my 3 yr old
been awake she would have been just as helpful!

What we read today!  Cute cute book!

Molly working on her Olympic Lapbook - LOVE her fire - creative with the different colors.

We are done with school this week as far as bookwork goes...tomorrow we are taping
the opening ceremonies to watch on Monday!

Zachary's birthday party is this Saturday so I am finishing up the details for that....

Have a wonderful weekend and Be Blessed!

National Chocolate Chip Day

May 15, 2012 is National Chocolate Chip Day Today is National Chocolate Chip Day! Chocolate chips are an essential ingredient in dozens of delicious baked goodsā€”chocolate chip cookies, chocolate chip pancakes, chocolate chip muffins, chocolate chip brownies, chocolate chip bagels, and many more. You can even find chili recipes that call for these sweet morsels! In the 1930s, Ruth Graves Wakefield created the original chocolate chip cookie at her Toll House Inn in Whitman, Massachusetts. Ruth intended to bake chocolate cookies for her guests, but she ran out of bakerā€™s chocolate. She substituted with chopped up semi-sweet chocolate morsels and discovered that the pieces did not melt into the dough as she expected. Her cookies were an instant hit. Today, 25% of all the cookies baked in the United States are chocolate chip! To celebrate National Chocolate Chip Day, pick up a bag of chocolate chips at the supermarket and bake something yummy to share with friends and cowor...

The snow is melting and the signs of spring are everywhere!  I am ready for the light coat and to put away my Uggs for the season.   Zachary worked on the Women and Children of the Revolutionary War - and some fun Scholastic - Super Science!  He is always working on his IPAD playing Scrabble, Words with Friends, Monopoly, Stack the States and Stack the Countries. The girls and I talked about what is happening outside with the plants and animals. Waking up!  Sammie also enjoyed this Sofia the First Unit. We had so much fun making our Chocolate Volcano Cakes from our Raddish box this week.   Of course some Spring crafting was in order. We made these easy cupcake paper and button flowers pictures. Also using some kitchen sponges (for stamping)  from dollar store to make these beautiful spring cards.  Thursday Science - again going to our Raddish box and finding a cool experiment. ...
