Collage Friday and a Party

Yes my friends if you are reading this post that means another week has gone before our eyes!  It was a busy one here at the Joys of Home Educating!   With school and extra activities wrapping up we finally found time to rest and relax...lol...

Our newest "family" member - girls named her "Janey Newell"...she or he lives in the play yard - leaves us alone but loves to sunbath on the kids gym equipment.

Fun with some Kiwi Crates this week!  These are worth their weight in gold. So educational and so fun!  Quality of crates and materials is excellent!

Fun with Science this week using our Magic School Bus - Grow Amazing Polymers Experiments.

Here is what is happening outside....Bees are loving our flowers....chipmunks are loving the seeds that drop from the feeders and our little baby birds are very content in their nest.   What you dont see....two racoons that keep giving us a run for our money at night....woodchucks getting into the garage for a look see around...lol...

Memorial Weekend we celebrated with the other two families that we homeschool with sometimes.  Check out all the CELEBRATIONS and a ton of pics HERE at my sister blog  - My Party Passion.

This weekend is Molly's Ballet Recital. Hard to believe it!  Last year we had a little reception for her, this year is no different. (pics from last year HERE)

Expecting 90 degree weather here for the next few days - HUZZAH - Summer is approaching! Can't wait to get the kids back to the NJ Shore for some ocean fun!

Please hop over to Homegrown Learners and join Mary and dozens of other home schoolers for the weekly - Collage Friday!

National Chocolate Chip Day

May 15, 2012 is National Chocolate Chip Day Today is National Chocolate Chip Day! Chocolate chips are an essential ingredient in dozens of delicious baked goodsā€”chocolate chip cookies, chocolate chip pancakes, chocolate chip muffins, chocolate chip brownies, chocolate chip bagels, and many more. You can even find chili recipes that call for these sweet morsels! In the 1930s, Ruth Graves Wakefield created the original chocolate chip cookie at her Toll House Inn in Whitman, Massachusetts. Ruth intended to bake chocolate cookies for her guests, but she ran out of bakerā€™s chocolate. She substituted with chopped up semi-sweet chocolate morsels and discovered that the pieces did not melt into the dough as she expected. Her cookies were an instant hit. Today, 25% of all the cookies baked in the United States are chocolate chip! To celebrate National Chocolate Chip Day, pick up a bag of chocolate chips at the supermarket and bake something yummy to share with friends and cowor...

Collage Friday and a Video

We have had a good week here in NY. The snow is melting and the signs of spring are everywhere!  I am ready for the light coat and to put away my Uggs for the season.   Zachary worked on the Women and Children of the Revolutionary War - and some fun Scholastic - Super Science!  He is always working on his IPAD playing Scrabble, Words with Friends, Monopoly, Stack the States and Stack the Countries. The girls and I talked about what is happening outside with the plants and animals. Waking up!  Sammie also enjoyed this Sofia the First Unit. We had so much fun making our Chocolate Volcano Cakes from our Raddish box this week.   Of course some Spring crafting was in order. We made these easy cupcake paper and button flowers pictures. Also using some kitchen sponges (for stamping)  from dollar store to make these beautiful spring cards.  Thursday Science - again going to our Raddish box and finding a cool experiment. ...
