This week was as busy as all the others have been leading up to today!  It started on Sunday with our Outreach Sunday Pancake Breakfast.  The kids were very helpful in serving and prep work. The girls even wore their Melissa & Doug Waitress costumes to enhance the event! (of course they were a HUGE hit)

Whats keeping us busy?  Soccer practices, games....gym classes...studying where and when we can...enjoying this New York Fall weather!  The weekend and week have been gorgeous!

Other fun stuff going on....

We made these cute thumbprint spider cards to send to the Grandmas...Molly fell in love with this handmade headband from Keilee of KeileesKreations (Etsy) - these headbands are the cutest thing!  Go visit her site! I have been spending a few hours a day crafting and preparing for our Halloween Party!  Here mother, Karen,  blogs HERE at HomeSchool Girls.

This weekend - the kids have no soccer games as it's our local "homecoming weekend" and my mother and I are headed into NYC to have some girl time.  Looking forward to getting over to Dylan's Candy Bar to gather up some treats for our Annual Halloween Family Party next Saturday!

What's Coming Up and what you might have missed.....

This week I posted about a wonderful product for the little crafter in your life.  Kiwi Crate!  Do you have a little crater at home?  If you are not familiar with these monthly craft kids, you should be!  They have a special Halloween Crate out with wonderful projects!  You can find out all about Kiwi Crate HERE!

They make the PERFECT Christmas Gift!

I am so excited to have guest posts...giveaways....reviews...all coming up from now until Christmas!  Be watching for one next week!  Things are rockin and rollin here at The Joys of Home Educating!

I hope you will check back on Tuesday for my new series called Travel Tip Tuesday!

National Chocolate Chip Day

May 15, 2012 is National Chocolate Chip Day Today is National Chocolate Chip Day! Chocolate chips are an essential ingredient in dozens of delicious baked goodsā€”chocolate chip cookies, chocolate chip pancakes, chocolate chip muffins, chocolate chip brownies, chocolate chip bagels, and many more. You can even find chili recipes that call for these sweet morsels! In the 1930s, Ruth Graves Wakefield created the original chocolate chip cookie at her Toll House Inn in Whitman, Massachusetts. Ruth intended to bake chocolate cookies for her guests, but she ran out of bakerā€™s chocolate. She substituted with chopped up semi-sweet chocolate morsels and discovered that the pieces did not melt into the dough as she expected. Her cookies were an instant hit. Today, 25% of all the cookies baked in the United States are chocolate chip! To celebrate National Chocolate Chip Day, pick up a bag of chocolate chips at the supermarket and bake something yummy to share with friends and cowor...

Collage Friday and a Video

We have had a good week here in NY. The snow is melting and the signs of spring are everywhere!  I am ready for the light coat and to put away my Uggs for the season.   Zachary worked on the Women and Children of the Revolutionary War - and some fun Scholastic - Super Science!  He is always working on his IPAD playing Scrabble, Words with Friends, Monopoly, Stack the States and Stack the Countries. The girls and I talked about what is happening outside with the plants and animals. Waking up!  Sammie also enjoyed this Sofia the First Unit. We had so much fun making our Chocolate Volcano Cakes from our Raddish box this week.   Of course some Spring crafting was in order. We made these easy cupcake paper and button flowers pictures. Also using some kitchen sponges (for stamping)  from dollar store to make these beautiful spring cards.  Thursday Science - again going to our Raddish box and finding a cool experiment. ...
