My Favorite Things - Day 6

Day 6

If you missed any of the previous days, there is a link at the end of this post

Today's post comes to us from The Language Bear.  Not familiar with Bosley?  Oh you need to be!  Bosley is a bear that teaches through books and also speaks many different languages!  That's one smart bear!

Meet the author of these wonderful teaching books - Tim Johnson

In his own words....

My name is Tim Johnson and I began this project out of my passion for dual language books and to help expose young children all around the world to new languages.  It is my dream to raise my twin boys speaking or at least understanding many languages and help others do the same.
The first Bosley book, Bosley Sees the World was published in 2011 and received a great response from teachers, homeschoolers and parents from around the world.  The series will continue as long as people continue to enjoy their adventures with Bosley.
I am writing these books with the deliberate intention of teaching young children new words and phrases using the following methods:
Repeat words
Simple phrases,
Opposites,
Highlighted vocab words,
Contextual learning
Corresponding imagery
I hope you enjoy reading and learning with Bosley as much as I do. I look forward to offering many more adventures with Bosley in the future.

I was sold after reviewing Tim's books. I think dual language books are great for the children to learn from and see how other languages are even written.  The illustrations are wonderful and will keep even non-readers interested in what is going on!   You can find Tim's books on Amazon and if you have the Amazon Prime Membership you can get FREE Shipping in time for the holidays!  Why not buy a book for your child and an extra to give to those in need!

As a bonus - the Kids can sign up for the Bosley Fan Club and get a special FREE e-book for signing up. Just go HERE and sign up today!

Why not connect with Tim on Facebook HERE and on Twitter HERE!  Also their website is full of fun at The Language Bear! Be watching for a special giveaway from Tim at the end of My Favorite Things!

National Chocolate Chip Day

May 15, 2012 is National Chocolate Chip Day Today is National Chocolate Chip Day! Chocolate chips are an essential ingredient in dozens of delicious baked goodsā€”chocolate chip cookies, chocolate chip pancakes, chocolate chip muffins, chocolate chip brownies, chocolate chip bagels, and many more. You can even find chili recipes that call for these sweet morsels! In the 1930s, Ruth Graves Wakefield created the original chocolate chip cookie at her Toll House Inn in Whitman, Massachusetts. Ruth intended to bake chocolate cookies for her guests, but she ran out of bakerā€™s chocolate. She substituted with chopped up semi-sweet chocolate morsels and discovered that the pieces did not melt into the dough as she expected. Her cookies were an instant hit. Today, 25% of all the cookies baked in the United States are chocolate chip! To celebrate National Chocolate Chip Day, pick up a bag of chocolate chips at the supermarket and bake something yummy to share with friends and cowor...

Collage Friday and a Video

We have had a good week here in NY. The snow is melting and the signs of spring are everywhere!  I am ready for the light coat and to put away my Uggs for the season.   Zachary worked on the Women and Children of the Revolutionary War - and some fun Scholastic - Super Science!  He is always working on his IPAD playing Scrabble, Words with Friends, Monopoly, Stack the States and Stack the Countries. The girls and I talked about what is happening outside with the plants and animals. Waking up!  Sammie also enjoyed this Sofia the First Unit. We had so much fun making our Chocolate Volcano Cakes from our Raddish box this week.   Of course some Spring crafting was in order. We made these easy cupcake paper and button flowers pictures. Also using some kitchen sponges (for stamping)  from dollar store to make these beautiful spring cards.  Thursday Science - again going to our Raddish box and finding a cool experiment. ...
