Scratch 'n Sniff Stickers?

One of my favorite rewards to receive from a teacher!  Guess what?  That is when Creative Teaching Press got their big break in 1977 with the introduction of the Scratch 'n Sniff reward sticker!  (Oh thank you CTP) Who knew I would be using their products with my own children so many years later!

Each Monday, for the next month, I will be reviewing a different learning product that I feel could benefit your homeschool and won't break the bank!

My husband and I think it is so important to teach the children the value of money at a young age.

I can't tell you the amount of times I have been at a check out and the clerk can't seem to count me back the correct change.

We start our learning adventure today in the world of coins,  using the Counting U.S. Coins Mini Bulliten Board Set. This set has everything you need to get the children excited about money!  The cut outs are large and easy to read.

This set has 41 pieces to it with a great guide for suggestive teaching.  I also like to make up our own "games" for fun engaged learning.

I gave our soon to be 5 year old a card with the number and cent sign on it and asked her match up the amount to the corresponding picture card. To my surprise, she got them all correct!

I love all the bright colors (attracts the kids to the set) and the quality of the thick cut outs. They will be able to be used many times over.

With a set of the Coin Stickers (actual size of the coins) I asked our (almost 7 year old) to make up some addition equations using the coins stickers.  She did great!

The fact that the set meets the common core standards makes me feel good that I don't' have to go looking t0 see if we covered everything.

I am very impressed with the variety that comes in this Coin Bulletin Board Set.  The girls loved the activities and are already asking for more!

The price of these products are unbelievable!  For the entire 41 piece set it's only $ 6.99 and the coin stickers are an additional $ 2.49!   That in well within my budget and these are not a one time use products which really stretches my dollar....hehehe

Thanks Creative Teaching Press for some great affordable products!

National Chocolate Chip Day

May 15, 2012 is National Chocolate Chip Day Today is National Chocolate Chip Day! Chocolate chips are an essential ingredient in dozens of delicious baked goodsā€”chocolate chip cookies, chocolate chip pancakes, chocolate chip muffins, chocolate chip brownies, chocolate chip bagels, and many more. You can even find chili recipes that call for these sweet morsels! In the 1930s, Ruth Graves Wakefield created the original chocolate chip cookie at her Toll House Inn in Whitman, Massachusetts. Ruth intended to bake chocolate cookies for her guests, but she ran out of bakerā€™s chocolate. She substituted with chopped up semi-sweet chocolate morsels and discovered that the pieces did not melt into the dough as she expected. Her cookies were an instant hit. Today, 25% of all the cookies baked in the United States are chocolate chip! To celebrate National Chocolate Chip Day, pick up a bag of chocolate chips at the supermarket and bake something yummy to share with friends and cowor...

Collage Friday and a Video

We have had a good week here in NY. The snow is melting and the signs of spring are everywhere!  I am ready for the light coat and to put away my Uggs for the season.   Zachary worked on the Women and Children of the Revolutionary War - and some fun Scholastic - Super Science!  He is always working on his IPAD playing Scrabble, Words with Friends, Monopoly, Stack the States and Stack the Countries. The girls and I talked about what is happening outside with the plants and animals. Waking up!  Sammie also enjoyed this Sofia the First Unit. We had so much fun making our Chocolate Volcano Cakes from our Raddish box this week.   Of course some Spring crafting was in order. We made these easy cupcake paper and button flowers pictures. Also using some kitchen sponges (for stamping)  from dollar store to make these beautiful spring cards.  Thursday Science - again going to our Raddish box and finding a cool experiment. ...
