Reading and Math: A Workbook Review

It's Monday which means I am sharing with you a review of a fun teaching product from

If you missed our review of last week you can see all about  at Mini Magnet Books.

This week, I have another exciting review.

These workbooks are great. The pictures are big, the colors are bright and they appeal to the youngings.
There is so much content in these books, you will have lessons for weeks on end!

I LOVE CTP approach to the 3 easy steps to learning!
  1. Achieve reading success through expertly written stories designed to support beginning readers.
  2. Build thinking skills with questions that boost vocabulary and develop comprehension.
  3. Practice skills smartly through engaging activities devised to help children extend their mastery of the skills covered in each story.
We love the stories from the Learn to Read series and the skills worksheets that go along with it. The girls are able to read this with me and answer the questions on each page.  There are also stickers included along with an incentive chart.  Along the way you will find tips for parents.
The following skills are covered in the Kindergarten Reading & Math Jumbo Workbook:
  • Phonics
  • Sight words
  • Sequencing
  • Homophones
  • Pronouns
  • Opposites
  • Numbers
  • Counting
  • Addition
  • Subtraction
  • Measurement
  • And more!

National Chocolate Chip Day

May 15, 2012 is National Chocolate Chip Day Today is National Chocolate Chip Day! Chocolate chips are an essential ingredient in dozens of delicious baked goodsā€”chocolate chip cookies, chocolate chip pancakes, chocolate chip muffins, chocolate chip brownies, chocolate chip bagels, and many more. You can even find chili recipes that call for these sweet morsels! In the 1930s, Ruth Graves Wakefield created the original chocolate chip cookie at her Toll House Inn in Whitman, Massachusetts. Ruth intended to bake chocolate cookies for her guests, but she ran out of bakerā€™s chocolate. She substituted with chopped up semi-sweet chocolate morsels and discovered that the pieces did not melt into the dough as she expected. Her cookies were an instant hit. Today, 25% of all the cookies baked in the United States are chocolate chip! To celebrate National Chocolate Chip Day, pick up a bag of chocolate chips at the supermarket and bake something yummy to share with friends and cowor...

Collage Friday and a Video

We have had a good week here in NY. The snow is melting and the signs of spring are everywhere!  I am ready for the light coat and to put away my Uggs for the season.   Zachary worked on the Women and Children of the Revolutionary War - and some fun Scholastic - Super Science!  He is always working on his IPAD playing Scrabble, Words with Friends, Monopoly, Stack the States and Stack the Countries. The girls and I talked about what is happening outside with the plants and animals. Waking up!  Sammie also enjoyed this Sofia the First Unit. We had so much fun making our Chocolate Volcano Cakes from our Raddish box this week.   Of course some Spring crafting was in order. We made these easy cupcake paper and button flowers pictures. Also using some kitchen sponges (for stamping)  from dollar store to make these beautiful spring cards.  Thursday Science - again going to our Raddish box and finding a cool experiment. ...
