Family NYE Party On a Budget

#KidsNYE

For the last three years, we have made a decision to ring in the new year as a family.  Okay maybe that means that they all wake me up at 11:50 pm for 11 minutes then I crawl into my bed.  However it plays out, we do it as a family.

The night consists of snacking, video games, board games and some silly dancing.  I don't go overboard (for me that's a statement) but do enough to make it feel special.

My go to place is our local Dollar Tree (not a sponsored post, just love our Dollar Tree). A few years ago they came to town and they are here to stay. I love the assortment of party items.

Giving myself a budget of $ 10 was easy to make all the magic happen.

These cute cardboard hats are perfect for the children.   I embellished, adding the 2015 with my Silhouette Cameo (black vinyl). Even the polka dot wrapping paper was from the Dollar Tree.  The gold star plates were a bonus item that caught my eye at the last minute!

EZ DIY: You can buy the plain old white cups and add your fun doodles, pictures, stickers or in my case some gold vinyl to add your New Year's Eve flair.  Better yet, give the Sharpies to the children and let them decorate their own.

Horns, blowers, rattles and even the Rolo candy fit right in to my fun plan.  The 2015 glasses were cut on my Cameo with some cardstock.

I am adding some balloons that I already have in my birthday drawer.

Let's see how I did:

1 set of tassel blowers
1 set of  horn blowers
1 set of cups
3 hats
1 bag of rolos
1 set of plates
1 set of crowns
1 gold necklace

$ 10 on the dot!

There is plenty to go around and maybe some will survive the night and be good for next year.

All I have to do is add the food and we are good to go!

What do you do to celebrate the new year?

I LOVE this! I especially love how you used your cameo to make things a little more special. I really like the idea of jazzing up plain cups. Thanks so much for sharing with us at Talented Tuesdays. I hope you join us again this week.

Little crafting for Spring

I seem to be in a crafting rutt lately so I needed to get my Spring crafting mojo going...I did something real simple that satisfied me for now... I turned this Goodwill frame $ 1.99 Into this... Using this paint My hot glue gun, some sandpaper, piece of scrape burlap, some moss from the Dollar Tree and a few of the little robin eggs I bought at Pottery Barn a few weeks ago.  I think it's cute and will find a home for it!
