Kitchen Update - so close to the end!

Gosh friends it's been over a month since I have posted on the new kitchen renovation!  SO sorry it took me this long, but reality of it, the kitchen took that long...

We are 95% done but I am ready to show you the progress!

In my last post about the kitchen I showed you the beginning and the progress of cabinets. But no upper cabinets, lighting, counter tops were in yet...

Drum roll please....

Our forever/dream kitchen is almost complete...we could not be happier. Our contractor is top notch and a perfectionist, which is great!

Beverage bar/buffet. This area will double as a food buffet when needed. For everyday purposes it's our beverage bar/center.  You can see the baseboard heating is not yet in and the moldings will be finished then.

So happy we went with the grey grout for the subway tile. LOVE the contrast with the counters.

Island seats 8 comfortably and we can sneak in another two if we need to.

I can wait for the finished touches and to see you the build-ins and the (not yet finished) barn door to the laundry room.  Plus some moldings and painting still needs to be completed.

We celebrated our one year anniversary of moving in on July 5th and so happy this HUGE reno project is behind us!

If you are interested in our cabinets and appliances you can check out my last post where I linked them for you.

I will do a total vendor list and update when it's complete along with a video tour!

National Chocolate Chip Day

May 15, 2012 is National Chocolate Chip Day Today is National Chocolate Chip Day! Chocolate chips are an essential ingredient in dozens of delicious baked goodsā€”chocolate chip cookies, chocolate chip pancakes, chocolate chip muffins, chocolate chip brownies, chocolate chip bagels, and many more. You can even find chili recipes that call for these sweet morsels! In the 1930s, Ruth Graves Wakefield created the original chocolate chip cookie at her Toll House Inn in Whitman, Massachusetts. Ruth intended to bake chocolate cookies for her guests, but she ran out of bakerā€™s chocolate. She substituted with chopped up semi-sweet chocolate morsels and discovered that the pieces did not melt into the dough as she expected. Her cookies were an instant hit. Today, 25% of all the cookies baked in the United States are chocolate chip! To celebrate National Chocolate Chip Day, pick up a bag of chocolate chips at the supermarket and bake something yummy to share with friends and cowor...

Collage Friday and a Video

We have had a good week here in NY. The snow is melting and the signs of spring are everywhere!  I am ready for the light coat and to put away my Uggs for the season.   Zachary worked on the Women and Children of the Revolutionary War - and some fun Scholastic - Super Science!  He is always working on his IPAD playing Scrabble, Words with Friends, Monopoly, Stack the States and Stack the Countries. The girls and I talked about what is happening outside with the plants and animals. Waking up!  Sammie also enjoyed this Sofia the First Unit. We had so much fun making our Chocolate Volcano Cakes from our Raddish box this week.   Of course some Spring crafting was in order. We made these easy cupcake paper and button flowers pictures. Also using some kitchen sponges (for stamping)  from dollar store to make these beautiful spring cards.  Thursday Science - again going to our Raddish box and finding a cool experiment. ...
