Getting away from it all and like minded mom friends

We had been invited to a quick overnight at the New Jersey shore by another homeschooling family, whom we are close to. They have children the same age as our children and I have a great friendship with the mom, so of course, we took them up on their offer!  I saw it as also an opportunity to get some homeschooling in also!

They rented a home on the "bay" side of Ocean Beach but we had access to the ocean side as well - best of both worlds for sure!

They introduced us to "crabbing". It was messy, smelly and a whole lot of fun! #homeschoolscience

We fit A LOT into less than 24 hours and it was all well worth the tiredness we have now...

\
They also brought their kayaks and the rental had a paddle boat - the children were in their glory to be out in the water as much as possible...right up until we had to leave to come home.  #homeschoolphysed

We had the chance to watch the dolphins also in the ocean, but sadly did not get a picture of them.

These friends bless us with invites to their bonfires, family nights and other field trips!  We are like minded mothers of the same age. I have a lot of friends, as most of us do, however, I find other homeschooling moms relate more to our lives than non homeschooling. It's nice to talk with a gal pal that is on the same page as we are.

Of course, Zachary still has his cast on, but comes off tomorrow so he used his "flipper"  (Dry Pro) which I HIGHLY Recommend to ANYONE who has a cast on. He wore this in the ocean with NO water issues at all!

We have three camping trips left to the season and this weekend we have overnight guests at the farmhouse for apple picking and fellowship!

I hope your weekend is fill of awesomeness!

National Chocolate Chip Day

May 15, 2012 is National Chocolate Chip Day Today is National Chocolate Chip Day! Chocolate chips are an essential ingredient in dozens of delicious baked goods—chocolate chip cookies, chocolate chip pancakes, chocolate chip muffins, chocolate chip brownies, chocolate chip bagels, and many more. You can even find chili recipes that call for these sweet morsels! In the 1930s, Ruth Graves Wakefield created the original chocolate chip cookie at her Toll House Inn in Whitman, Massachusetts. Ruth intended to bake chocolate cookies for her guests, but she ran out of baker’s chocolate. She substituted with chopped up semi-sweet chocolate morsels and discovered that the pieces did not melt into the dough as she expected. Her cookies were an instant hit. Today, 25% of all the cookies baked in the United States are chocolate chip! To celebrate National Chocolate Chip Day, pick up a bag of chocolate chips at the supermarket and bake something yummy to share with friends and cowor
