Make It Monday - Cool Maker - Tidy Dye Station - Honest Review

Welcome to another Make It Monday!

Where I bring you some totally awesome crafts!

Today's craft is fun for all ages and easy clean up (which I LOVE)!

Let's tie dye the stylish way, shall we.

This ain't your mama's tie dye art my friends. This is a new way!  It is from Spin Master  (coolmaker.com) and it's called Tidy Dye Station.

Cool Maker gives you all the tools needed to make amazing creations without the mess of traditional tie dye.  There are how-to-videos, blogs and website content to inspire your next creation.

This kit contained two projects:  a headband and a tote bag.

You are free to create your own design or use the suggested ones in the booklet.

Everything that was suppose to be in the kit was there. The only "ingredient" we needed to provide was water.

The instructions were fairly easy to read.

After reading through the section on the headband project, we got started.

For this project, our daughter, Molly was excited to help out.

After soaking the headband in water for a while, then ringing it out real well..she proceeded to wrap it around the cylinder and fasten it.

Then next was the magic!  Instead of the traditional tie die, different colored strings were provided and she was able to wrap the string around the headband turning it until she got to the end.

She used blue and pink and wanted to use the purple but the string would not come out of the cartridge, so that was a no go.

After it sat all night, she rinsed it and let it dry completely.

She loves the way it turned out and so do I!

Okay on to my pros and cons of the kit:

Pro: easy directions, no mess and a quick craft

Con: the purple string would not come out of the cartridge so it's not usable as is.

Overall rating I would give it a 8.5. The girls wish it came with more projects, but you can use what is left of the strings to make your own Tidy Die creations.  Great for ages 8 and up and if you buy it, I would suggest reusing the great box it came it for storage.

My daughter loves doing tie dye. Her favorite project was a T-shirt. She wears her tie dye shirt all the time. You can do this project to fit into a 1960's or 1970's themed party, if you are studying modern history.

Collage Friday and a Video

We have had a good week here in NY. The snow is melting and the signs of spring are everywhere!  I am ready for the light coat and to put away my Uggs for the season.   Zachary worked on the Women and Children of the Revolutionary War - and some fun Scholastic - Super Science!  He is always working on his IPAD playing Scrabble, Words with Friends, Monopoly, Stack the States and Stack the Countries. The girls and I talked about what is happening outside with the plants and animals. Waking up!  Sammie also enjoyed this Sofia the First Unit. Also using some kitchen sponges (for stamping)  from dollar store to make these beautiful spring cards.  Thursday Science - again going to our Raddish box and finding a cool experiment. ...

Little crafting for Spring

I seem to be in a crafting rutt lately so I needed to get my Spring crafting mojo going...I did something real simple that satisfied me for now... I turned this Goodwill frame $ 1.99 Into this... Using this paint My hot glue gun, some sandpaper, piece of scrape burlap, some moss from the Dollar Tree and a few of the little robin eggs I bought at Pottery Barn a few weeks ago.  I think it's cute and will find a home for it!
