Graduating our First and College Year One

It's been a real hot minute since I have been back to this space and I wanted to update you a little on what has been happening.

We graduated our first homeschooler last June, Zachary, and he is finishing his first year at college. He has excelled and exceeded our expectations and for that, we are grateful.  He found "his people" real early in the year and has established a great group of friends.  He has maintained a 4.0 in this freshman year and is thriving.   We are so proud of him.

He earned and wore two tassels at his home graduation ceremony - Green cord was for his over 100 hours of community service in his high school career and the gold was for honors in Math.

It was a long road to get to this place and a lot of lessons learned but it was so worth it!

If I am honest, I find myself longing for those days when we would spend the day at the Bronx Zoo or meet up with other homeschoolers at the park.   Those days are gone and while we do go on "field trips" it's just not the same.

I miss the arts and crafts...I miss the constant questions...I miss the story times.

While we still have two at home that are being home educated, how our learning looks has changed over the years. Not in a bad way, just a different way.

My advice to those of you who are in the infant stages of homeschooling, soak it in...spend all your resources on creativity and let them lead the way as to what they want to learn.

It will pay dividends!

Huzzah to the school year and to the summer! Until next time...be blessed!

Little crafting for Spring

I seem to be in a crafting rutt lately so I needed to get my Spring crafting mojo going...I did something real simple that satisfied me for now... I turned this Goodwill frame $ 1.99 Into this... Using this paint My hot glue gun, some sandpaper, piece of scrape burlap, some moss from the Dollar Tree and a few of the little robin eggs I bought at Pottery Barn a few weeks ago.  I think it's cute and will find a home for it!
