Farmhouse Friday No. 2

Welcome to the second taste of Farmhouse Friday here at Woodwater Farmhouse.  So glad you popped in for a minute or two to say Hi and check out the happenings here.

In case you missed them - here is what was happening on the blog this week:

Make it Monday - using the Cameo - embellished some cute enamel cups for the kids hot cocoa bar.

Glimpse into our farmhouse Christmas: just a quick glimpse into our farmhouse decor this year. More to come!

Homeschooling this past week....we finished up our November teachings and started right into December.  We will be taking it nice and slow in December and hoping to enjoy some visits from friends and community service opportunities.

These are very cute countdown activity books that I found at Target last month. The girls are loving them!

Each day we read a new book from our Christmas Collection and we started a unit study on one of our favorites  The Mitten.  Lots of games this week also and advent happenings.

Molly has also been playing the keyboard this week. We bought stickers for the keys and a keyboard book and she is on a roll.  Hoping to have Silent Night, Jingle Bells and We Wish You A Merry Christmas down pat by next weekend when our BFF's come for the weekend to celebrate Christmas!

What I am obsessed with this week:  the annual Jennifer Rizzo  Holiday Housewalk. Talk about some magazine worthy homes!  Just dream of having a home so decorated like the bloggers participating this year!  If you have some time and a cup of tea or cocoa, head on over!

Reindeer Cam - if you are not familiar with this fun family cam, then where have you been? Seriously it's the cutest thing!

On tap for the weekend

Saturday we will be getting our big tree (real) for the living room.  We now have VERY high ceilings and can get a very tall tree (hoping for AT LEAST a 10 footer)...watch IG for updates.

Hubby and I have a surprise birthday party to go to tomorrow also.

Sunday is church followed by an advent concert at our old church. I look forward to this concert every year!

The children will also be spending the night at Grammies and Bubby's house Sunday, (we split them up, works out nicely) so hubby and I can get some wrapping done and have a quiet at home date night.

Thanks for stopping in and I pray your weekend is filled with comfort and joy!

National Chocolate Chip Day

May 15, 2012 is National Chocolate Chip Day Today is National Chocolate Chip Day! Chocolate chips are an essential ingredient in dozens of delicious baked goodsā€”chocolate chip cookies, chocolate chip pancakes, chocolate chip muffins, chocolate chip brownies, chocolate chip bagels, and many more. You can even find chili recipes that call for these sweet morsels! In the 1930s, Ruth Graves Wakefield created the original chocolate chip cookie at her Toll House Inn in Whitman, Massachusetts. Ruth intended to bake chocolate cookies for her guests, but she ran out of bakerā€™s chocolate. She substituted with chopped up semi-sweet chocolate morsels and discovered that the pieces did not melt into the dough as she expected. Her cookies were an instant hit. Today, 25% of all the cookies baked in the United States are chocolate chip! To celebrate National Chocolate Chip Day, pick up a bag of chocolate chips at the supermarket and bake something yummy to share with friends and cowor...

Collage Friday and a Video

We have had a good week here in NY. The snow is melting and the signs of spring are everywhere!  I am ready for the light coat and to put away my Uggs for the season.   Zachary worked on the Women and Children of the Revolutionary War - and some fun Scholastic - Super Science!  He is always working on his IPAD playing Scrabble, Words with Friends, Monopoly, Stack the States and Stack the Countries. The girls and I talked about what is happening outside with the plants and animals. Waking up!  Sammie also enjoyed this Sofia the First Unit. We had so much fun making our Chocolate Volcano Cakes from our Raddish box this week.   Of course some Spring crafting was in order. We made these easy cupcake paper and button flowers pictures. Also using some kitchen sponges (for stamping)  from dollar store to make these beautiful spring cards.  Thursday Science - again going to our Raddish box and finding a cool experiment. ...
