Time for reflection....the 7 year itch

It's time...time for reflection....

It's been just about 7 years since I started this blog.
7 Year Itch is setting in.
It's time for a blogging break.
You gotta know when to hold em', know when to fold em', know when to walk away and know when to run.
I can't really say with certain when I will be back.
Talks amongst yourselves...topic....PASSION....find it....embrace it....

sharing the love...Valentine School Party

Today was our home school Valentine's Day Party!
The sun was shinning and we had a LOVELY time!

Happy New Year - China and a Party!

Gong Hey Fat Choy
Today was our Chinese New Year Celebration.  We had prepped for the party by making our Snakes in school last week.  Learning about how the New Year is celebrated in China and reading our books!
We swept the floors and cleaned away last year was a day to celebrate!

First we had a little school...

Then our guests arrived...we played Chinese Pick up Sticks Game. We built the Great Wall of China out of LEGOS.  I had DVR'd the Disney movie, Mulan so that was playing in the background.

Kimberly brought some wonderful authentic Chinese items from her trip to China. Along with some pictures. They were amazing. All the kids sat and loved what she shared.

We ate our lunch all together while listening to this great CD!

All the children tried using their chopsticks - fun times!
The two hours flew by!

This week we will be celebrating the LOVE we share with our Valentine's Day Party on Thursday!
Until then - BE BLESSED!

Collage Friday

It's been a world wind week this week with me coming back from the BEECH Blogging Conference and trying to get back into the swing of things!  Sharing what we have been up to here at The Joys of Home Educating with others at Homegrown Learners Collage Friday!

Caught up on our Groundhogs Day fun!  We started learning about blood and the heart this month!  Kids love Science and I love to teach it!  Of course we celebrated Pancake Day with some yummy silver dollar pancakes!  Molly continued with her MONEY unit and is catching on quickly!

February has a lot to celebrate!  We are learning about China and Ancient China this month. Our Chinese New Year party will be on Monday and we have invited other homeschoolers over to partake in our celebration!  We made snakes (it's the Year of the Snake) and the children are getting used to using their Chopsticks (bought at Epcot this past year)
Next week - Chinese New Year, Mardi Gras and Valentine's day!  WOW that's a fun week!
