Wordless Wednesday

The Joys of Home Educating - and the challenges too 8)

When my husband and I made the decision to home educate our children it was not a decision we came to on a whim.  I prayed about it...read a stack of books on it....spoke and listened to others who were veterans in home educating their children.   The final decision was that this is what is best for OUR children.   Side note:  Hubby and I are not ANTI Public schools we are just PRO Home Schooling - please note that.   OUR choice has been met with (as expected) a lot of eye rolls, questions, concerns, talking behind our backs and more - not just from "friends" but family members also.   For those out there who think that home schooling your child (ren) is easy and we just play all day - oh how wrong you are!  Yes we do get a lot of hugs, and down time - when needed - but my time is 100% devoted to being their mom, their teacher, their mentor and there is very little "me" time at all. This is OUR choice and I would not change that for anything. For ME - home educating

ZINGO!

We are finally back to "normal" for the most part....kids are feeling better ( rough rough week last week ) and we got slowly back into some schooling today!  Girls and I broke out a game that they received for Christmas and I just LOVE it for learning ZINGO - 1-2-3 We had received the Original ZINGO a few years earlier and that is still a HIT with the kids. In addition to school today - an old friend was "in town" and spent the day with us!   She was soo generous and brought the kids each a gift 8)  So happy to have had her be our guest for the day! While the public school kids are preparing to return to school in just about a week here in NY, we are making plans to hit the Jersey Shore while the crowds are away!   Hope everyone has a great week and BE BLESSED!

As we recover...

God is Faithful.... This week has been THE best weather week all Summer here in Southern NY. HOWEVER, all three little blessings at home have been dealing with the Coxsackie Virus and it's really starting to wear on us all.  We are on Day 6 of fevers....headaches.....sore throat.  Had to cancel our last camping trip of the season with our BFF's   8(    Have not schooled too much 8(    In addition, the children can be mildly contagious for up to 10 days after they are symptomatic which means next week, while my husband is away on business, we should stay away from playdates and parties 8(     I am believing this is happening all for a reason - I am faithful. On the "glass is 1/2 full side of life" - today is our 9th Wedding Anniversary !  Reason to celebrate I think! In addition, I am on the list of the top 25 New York Mom Blogs over at Circle of Moms - which is always nice to be recognized 8)   (you can vote 1 time per day if you feel lead) I pray that your weekend

Cooking with the kids - candymaking

FUNDAY MONDAY we made these babies today - other than the occasional chocolate lollipop using those cute molds, I have NEVER made any type of candy before....but I will be making these beauties from now on!  Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter...Oh the plans I have!  LOL I will admit peanut butter cups are a HUGE weakness of mine. Can't keep them in the house or I will steal them all! Hubbies fav too!  When I saw THIS RECIPE in my latest All You Magazine they seemed easy enough and much healthier too! Oh soooo good and easy - kids helped with no effort at all! If you are a lover of peanut butter and chocolate like I am you won't be sorry! (and probably never buy them from the store again!)

Farm Puppet Theater - creative build

You might have seen this post from a few weeks ago Legos, Farms and Educational Playdate .  If you missed it, check it out.  One of the "goodies" that the girls got to take home was a real cute activity book that Kimberly made up for the girls. Today Molly decided to break hers out and finish it cover to cover!  In addition she wanted to have a puppet show for us about life on the farm.  She made the backdrop all by herself and then treated us to a show! Great job Molly!  Just love her imagination and creativity! Here are some pics from the actual playdate! Have a great day and Be Blessed!
