Farmhouse Friday

Welcome to another Farmhouse Friday here at Woodwater Farmhouse.  Things are still pretty warm around here but that heat will break today!  Not sure if it will return but at least for the weekend we catch a break! Which is great, because we are camping again!  Last weekend we camped - farm camping is our favorite!  It's in a beautiful part of New Jersey and less than an hour from our home.  The nice thing about camping here this time of year, you leave your camper on your site as long as you camp three weekends in a row!  Score!  They have a great dog park also!  A ton of dogs at this campground make it fun for Lilly too!  Cows, calves, goats, sheep, bunnies, donkeys and mini horses...oh and ducks. All there to be loved on!  We brought a bag full of our Asian pears to share with them all!   The theme of the weekend was Halloween. We participated last year and it was so much fun. This year Molly was the only one in the family who wanted to participate. She

Farmhouse Friday: Where I am failing and our week in pictures

Happy Fall - it's official...although the weather her in NY would prove you wrong. It's in the 80's now and the good news - the pool is still open!   It's been a busy week - filled with ups and downs. One would hope more ups than downs but it might be pretty equal this last week.  I have been having some car troubles lately and after three times of being back in the shop, praying finally fixed!  Now on to our week.... The garden is still producing tomatoes, cucumbers, squash and a TON of Asian Pears!   The on and off humidity and rain has these mushrooms growing everywhere!  One area in which I fail my family (kids mostly) is field trips. I used to take them all the time to far off places and I got so lazy about it over the last few years. I started being such a homebody and my driving tolerance for others on the road has gotten real bad. BUT I am really trying to venture out more and take the kids on fun excursions. We have had a fe

Getting away from it all and like minded mom friends

We had been invited to a quick overnight at the New Jersey shore by another homeschooling family, whom we are close to. They have children the same age as our children and I have a great friendship with the mom, so of course, we took them up on their offer!  I saw it as also an opportunity to get some homeschooling in also! They rented a home on the "bay" side of Ocean Beach but we had access to the ocean side as well - best of both worlds for sure! They introduced us to "crabbing". It was messy, smelly and a whole lot of fun! #homeschoolscience We fit A LOT into less than 24 hours and it was all well worth the tiredness we have now... \ They also brought their kayaks and the rental had a paddle boat - the children were in their glory to be out in the water as much as possible...right up until we had to leave to come home.  #homeschoolphysed We had the chance to watch the dolphins also in the ocean, but sadly did not get a picture of

Welcome September and all it brings

September...ah...welcome  September means so many things here in the Northeast area. It's bonfires. It's flannel. It's jeans and boots. It's cool nights on the porch. It's fall candle scents.  For Woodwater Farmhouse, September means one more month before we are back to our new school year. We school year round but we change "grades" in October.  So we are soaking in the last few weeks until back to school.  We have had a challenging August, to say the least and we are believing in less challenges and more blessings coming our way.   We have been reminded these past few weeks how important family and friends are.  As we love to do, we will be entertaining more...more family time..outdoor movie nights...bonfires and long walks in the country.  What I am so obsessed with these days...fall recipes!  Check some of these blogs out for beautiful eye candy and delicious  looking fall recipes .  Apple Prisp from Ro
