Grace is for Sinners

We all fall short. sin. ask for forgiveness. we are not perfect in this imperfect world. What we are is saved by the Grace of God. Thank You, thank you....oh Lord...I say a prayer of Thanksgiving in my heart. Not only for my family, friends but for those i have not met yet. Those who have come before God to say "Lord I am a sinner, help me find my way back to you." At the Relevant Conference in PA last week, I and 200 other Godly women heard a woman speak, Serena Woods. She spoke of sin, of needing grace, going so deep she could not figure out how to come back. I connected with her on so many levels. The opportunity to sit with her and speak one on one. Even before the conference, I knew she was a soul I needed to connect with. She wrote a book, Grace is for Sinners and wait with all my heart for it to be slipped into my mailbox. I know with my entire heart that this book will inspire me as she does. If you are not familiar with her, I recommend visiting her FB page and

Fun stuff for October

Finishing up the month with some great crafts yesterday. Kids enjoyed them and the school room is so nicely decorated now! We made ghost puppets (A Martha Stewart craft) - FUN! Then we made those popular ghost "feet"..paint your foot white and put your print on a piece of black paper, wait for it to dry and write in the eyes. Finally, we made spiders (studying them right now) using egg cartons and pipe cleaners.

October Teachings - Wrap Up

October is always an awesome month for teaching. Apples, pumpkins, leaves changing, hikes, coolness fills the air! Great fun! As October wraps up this weekend, I look back to review what we studied: Soap Making - kids loved this simple craft. We learned it's fun to jump in the leaves on a beautiful Fall day! We learned how to make fresh pressed cider from a wooden mill. Zachary is finishing up his Renewable Energy project for the Lego Education Challenge. Apples were fun to learn about! Some "followers" might know, we study a different state each month in school. October is - Georgia. A friend who lives there sent us a few packages of awesome things that represent her state. We learned SO much! Molly and I made a poster representing with the children learned! Looking ahead, I am excited to see what our Thanksgiving Month will reveal to us. I pray everyone has a safe and happy end to October!

The Time WAS Relevant

Returned safely, Thank you Lord, from Relevant. I won't be able to express with words the inpact of these last four days have on my life. Hearing such Godly women speak, sharing, crying, laughing and praying with me, life changing. On the 3 1/2 hour ride home. I made mental notes of the changes that will be happening in my home, with my children, my walk with God, my relationship with my husband, my scheduling, my time on the computer, my relationships, my everything! So many awesome women in 1 place, such energy, such great joy it brought me. I was so nervous to be away from my family, since being away ment I could not tuck the kids in, sit at night with my husband and share our day together...would the house run "according to Melissa's schedule"..lol I will admit, there were blinks of an eye moments that I missed the kids, the husband, the schedule, the home, but mostly I was missing my relationship with God. I went to Relevant thinking it was a Christian Women&

When God Shone Down

I took this picture out of the window of my car on my way to Relevant. It was raining for a while and then all of a sudden the clouds broke and the sun came thru. Warmed my face and soul.

School Uniforms...you use them?

Over at The Homeschool Village we are chatting about school uniforms...do you require one? Can the kids spend the day (and you too) in their PJ's? Come see what we had to say.... For us, we do require a morning routine that has brushing teeth, making the bed and getting dressed. It's every once and a while that I allow PJ's all day...has to be a rainy or snowy day and I know we are going to stay in for sure...what about you?
