Remembering...school daze!

So today at Homeschool Village , it's Blast from the Past. Post a blurb about your favorite teacher from school and a picture if you have one! The teacher that influenced me the most in school was Miss Hoag, my 5th grade elementary teacher. She was a mentor, a fashionesta and a great lady. I am not sure what happened to her now, but I remember learning so much about life from her. Not just the three R's. Enjoy the school picture! lol

Living on a budget & the Dollar Tree FINDS of the day!

We like to check out our local Dollar Tree a few times a month. Today we went and found a TON of national brands for $ 1 each. Check out the pictures...what national brands can you see? Living on a budget is so important to us. Living within our means and not using credit cards is something we pride ourselves in. As much as I can I save a dollar here and a dollar there. Homeschooling, as all of the HS parents know, can add to the budget...with supplies, books, field trips etc...so it's my "job" to control the spending on food and household items. Some of the National brands included: Packing Tape by 3M, Renuzit Air Fresheners, Yoohoo, Palmolive dish washing liquid, Campbells Cream of Mushroom soup, Snuggle dryer sheets 20 count, DelMonte Sauce, Puffs tissues, Disney painting kit...other things i bough were fairy wings, three muffin tins (going to get on that Muffin Tin Lunch bandwagon), ribbon and more.... What do you do to help the budget?

Toddler Time Tuesday

So for all the homechooling mommy bloggers out there, couldn't you say you have homeschooled your child(ren) since birth? I know that is how I feel about it. Currently homeschooling a toddler, preschooler and a 1st grader, variety is the spice of life over here! My preschooler wants to do everything the 1st grader does, and the toddler wants to be in the middle of it all. So how do YOU homeschool multiple age children at once? For me, one of the "tricks" that has worked, is that we all sit together at our big farm table for school at the same time. The toddler even prays with us in the morning. From there, the 1st grader (zachary) and the preschooler (molly) both have work, and although they differ in difficulty, they both study the same thing. While the toddler (sam) sits at the table in her booster at the table and plays with her stacking cups with fishy crackers inside or books, sometimes even puzzles at the table. We all know the attention span of a toddler

Rainy Mondays = Fall cooking!

It's a rainy Monday here in NY and cool also. This was the perfect beginning to my Fall baking/stew making season! I have a crock pot of the most delicious smelling beef stew in the crock pot (little secret, besides all the veggies, meat and seasoning, I used a can of French Onion soup to flavor it more - YUMMO)....also we made an apple crisp and apple pie (hubby's favorite) today. Molly helped a lot! EZ breezy as my kids say 8)
