NO SPEND JANUARY - MONDAY UPDATE - WEEK 3 - Epic Fail

Hi friends - WELCOME!  If you are on this No Spend January journey with us, how's it going? If you are not, maybe you want to jump right in!  You can find out the "guidelines" at this post

As promised, I am back today with an update on our third week of No Spend January with our fails and our wins!

First let's talk about what categories we spent money on:
  • Gas - my truck and hubby's car
  • Credit card payment (we use 1 card for everything and then pay off each month, getting those collage points!)
  • Walmart - weekly grocery pick up - $ 91.16
  • Shoprite - $ 8.33 (lactose free cheese & bagels)
  • CVS - $ 10.59 (kids flossers and VICKS rub)
  • RV Show - $ 18 entrance fee & a snack at the show
So I was a little over this week with the $ 91,16, $ 8.33 and $ 10.59 for my "grocery" and home care items. But still did great!

We had lots of snow again this week and temps were COLD for most of the week.

Dinner Meal Plan:

  • Sausage with peppers & onions with Italian bread and rice
  • Meatloaf with tater tots and veggie
  • Big salad with chicken tenders
  • Tacos
  • Pasta with meat sauce (still have ground turkey from last week for this meal)
  • Breakfast dinner
  • Family Happy Hour (leftovers and Naan bread pizzas with veggies & dip)

Breakfasts:  Homemade pancakes with sausage, cereal, banana bread, apples, yogurt with homemade granola

Lunches: Sandwiches, eggs, loaded waffle fries, cheese sticks, veggies & dip

Snacks:  Ice cream, chips, cookies, fruit, homemade bread, graham crackers, crackers and peanut butter

Saturday hubby and I went to the RV show in NJ to start our search for our new Fifth Wheel!  It was a date day, as the girls were at a friends for the night and Zachary was at Bubby's for the night.   SInce we don't get a night home alone often, we decided to pick up a bottle of wine for the night. If you remember, we did not have any wine in the house in January, so far, and have been doing SO good on cutting out the alcohol. This was a special occasion. Spent $ 15.00

Here comes the Epic Fail - lol - we bought a new camper.  The only money we had to put down was a deposit to order it. So we spend $ 1500 on that. BUT we ultimately saved
$ 20,000 by getting the "show price" so I am ok with it.  However if we are really talking No Spend, then I consider this an epic fail 8(

Sunday we had some friends over to watch the Vikings play the worse game of their 2017/18 season 8(    Enough about that...

How are you doing on your no/low spend?

Until next week - be blessed and spend less!

National Chocolate Chip Day

May 15, 2012 is National Chocolate Chip Day Today is National Chocolate Chip Day! Chocolate chips are an essential ingredient in dozens of delicious baked goods—chocolate chip cookies, chocolate chip pancakes, chocolate chip muffins, chocolate chip brownies, chocolate chip bagels, and many more. You can even find chili recipes that call for these sweet morsels! In the 1930s, Ruth Graves Wakefield created the original chocolate chip cookie at her Toll House Inn in Whitman, Massachusetts. Ruth intended to bake chocolate cookies for her guests, but she ran out of baker’s chocolate. She substituted with chopped up semi-sweet chocolate morsels and discovered that the pieces did not melt into the dough as she expected. Her cookies were an instant hit. Today, 25% of all the cookies baked in the United States are chocolate chip! To celebrate National Chocolate Chip Day, pick up a bag of chocolate chips at the supermarket and bake something yummy to share with friends and cowor...
