1st day of school! WHA WHO!

Today was our 1st day of the new school year (full time)...We started at 9 am (EST) and just ended at 2:50 pm. I thought it might be too much for them being preK and 1st/2nd grade but they did great...broke up the day with outside nature time and playtime. Kids had a great time and so did I. So nice not having them fight or ask for TV! Here was our schedule:

Prayers - start at 9:00 am
Thought of the day...talk about it(today was do you like Banana sundaes or ice cream sandwiches? Why did you pick what you picked?
Letter of the Week "A" - practice and journal write
Snack Break w/ music
Math
Outside for 30 mins nature time
Inside for lunch
computer time
Reading
Art
Social Studies
End at 2:50 pm

National Chocolate Chip Day

May 15, 2012 is National Chocolate Chip Day Today is National Chocolate Chip Day! Chocolate chips are an essential ingredient in dozens of delicious baked goods—chocolate chip cookies, chocolate chip pancakes, chocolate chip muffins, chocolate chip brownies, chocolate chip bagels, and many more. You can even find chili recipes that call for these sweet morsels! In the 1930s, Ruth Graves Wakefield created the original chocolate chip cookie at her Toll House Inn in Whitman, Massachusetts. Ruth intended to bake chocolate cookies for her guests, but she ran out of baker’s chocolate. She substituted with chopped up semi-sweet chocolate morsels and discovered that the pieces did not melt into the dough as she expected. Her cookies were an instant hit. Today, 25% of all the cookies baked in the United States are chocolate chip!
