Date Day with the Girls at the Zoo

My hubby took off a few days this week so we can split up the kids and have a "date day" with them.  My husband took my son skiing for the day and I took the girls to the Bronx Zoo. We had a blast....here are our highlights....place was empty!  Temp was almost 60!

This swan was looking for some food from us....came right up to my camera and was pecking at it...

Snow leopard

Place was empty....this is where we ate lunch....right next to the outdoor Baboons...

Sea Lions....almost feeding time...

"Feed me...."

Look at the left of the picture...this little guy was flying high!

This is a female Rino...usually she is napping when we are there but today she was up and eating...nice surprise!

On the bug carousel.

Molly looking at the baboons!

Walking hand in hand....

ride home....ah....

It was so nice to only have two kids with me instead of three.....love them all...but two is easier to handle than three for sure and NO Fighting among the girls 1 bit today!

HI Melis!
Ah, Bronx Zoo...I went there many many years ago in 1993 with my now deceased grandfather and my husband (who was my boyfriend back in 1993)
These are great pictures and having that swan come up to me would have made me flip out! :) It looks like a perfect day and it's so great to visit attractions during the "off" season knowing that great places like this are wall to wall people (and not as fun) during peak seasons!
Great pictures and I'm sure you savored your perfect "date" with your sweeties!
I just passed on some awards to you and you can read about them here: http://asliceofsmithlife.blogspot.com/2011/02/receiving-and-giving-awards.html

Hope you have a blessed weekend!

Great pictures. I particularly love the seals and walking hand in hand. The zoo is one of my favorite places to go with my kids. I hope they never outgrow it!

National Chocolate Chip Day

May 15, 2012 is National Chocolate Chip Day Today is National Chocolate Chip Day! Chocolate chips are an essential ingredient in dozens of delicious baked goods—chocolate chip cookies, chocolate chip pancakes, chocolate chip muffins, chocolate chip brownies, chocolate chip bagels, and many more. You can even find chili recipes that call for these sweet morsels! In the 1930s, Ruth Graves Wakefield created the original chocolate chip cookie at her Toll House Inn in Whitman, Massachusetts. Ruth intended to bake chocolate cookies for her guests, but she ran out of baker’s chocolate. She substituted with chopped up semi-sweet chocolate morsels and discovered that the pieces did not melt into the dough as she expected. Her cookies were an instant hit. Today, 25% of all the cookies baked in the United States are chocolate chip! To celebrate National Chocolate Chip Day, pick up a bag of chocolate chips at the supermarket and bake something yummy to share with friends and cowor
