Learning all about seeds and the parts of seeds.

Using seeds to make flower art.

Our Scholastic Newsletters...fun with sunflowers

Time to plant some more....using eggshells so we can plant directly into the ground.

Inside of a seed after it's started to sprout

.

what our kidney beans seeds look like today!

Continuing with our planting lapbooks

Our Spring is Here song...so cute!
( Tune of "If you are happy and you know it clap your hands..."
Try it out  You know you are!)

If you look you'll see Spring is all around.
See the flowers coming up from the ground.
See the blossoms on the trees
Hear the buzzing of the bees
If you look, you'll see Spring is all around.

Here is the link to The Homeschool Village!  Join in on the green thumb fun!

Great activities! My MIL just mailed me some eggs to plant so I'm excited to see what comes of it =)
Melissa,

All of your activities look like everyone had so much fun. I like the idea of using the eggshells so you can move the seedlings straight into the ground. We made pots using toilet paper rolls so we can do the same.

It's fun isn't it? Growing things with the kids has been such a wonderful learning experience for all of us. I can tell your little ones are really learning, Melissa. I admire all of the time and effort you put into making it meaningful for them. The lapbook looks great.

Fun! I wish we'd used eggshells to start seeds this year. We also do a lot of seed sprouting in a Mason jar to eat with sandwiches and on salads, and growing microgreens, more useful educational activities for the littles.

National Chocolate Chip Day

May 15, 2012 is National Chocolate Chip Day Today is National Chocolate Chip Day! Chocolate chips are an essential ingredient in dozens of delicious baked goods—chocolate chip cookies, chocolate chip pancakes, chocolate chip muffins, chocolate chip brownies, chocolate chip bagels, and many more. You can even find chili recipes that call for these sweet morsels! In the 1930s, Ruth Graves Wakefield created the original chocolate chip cookie at her Toll House Inn in Whitman, Massachusetts. Ruth intended to bake chocolate cookies for her guests, but she ran out of baker’s chocolate. She substituted with chopped up semi-sweet chocolate morsels and discovered that the pieces did not melt into the dough as she expected. Her cookies were an instant hit. Today, 25% of all the cookies baked in the United States are chocolate chip! To celebrate National Chocolate Chip Day, pick up a bag of chocolate chips at the supermarket and bake something yummy to share with friends and cowor
