Planners, Calendars and Lists...Oh My

I am probably THE most organized person that I know (most will probably agree)...lists and calendars are in abundance here at the Newell home....I can't begin to tell you how many calendars, planners, homeschool planners that I have tried, used and thrown away over the years. Last year I used (and LOVED but barely used it to it's fullest potential) A Well Planned Day - HOWEVER, this year I really can't justify the cost involved when there are SO many FREE printable pages out there (Free I guess if you dont think about the ink and paper involved...lol)...Even at our favorite supply store the basic monthly calendar was $ 20 ...sigh....so I have been printing off the monthly calendar pages over at Anything But Perfect (for FREE) and they are so cute...and found FREE planning pages over at Donna Young (gotta love Donna)

What do you use?  Do you like it?  Have you tried a lot of different things?

I have tried so many calendars and planners both print and electronic it's crazy. I've found that a good old fashioned desk calendar hung up on the side of the fridge works best for us for events, and appointments. I color code it to each family member so everyone can tell what's on track for them easily.

For our homeschool I'm trying out homeschoolskedtrack.com again this year. I've found the electronic planners to be easier for me to use for school and this one is really easy to use. Good luck with your planning and your school year!

M - I have gone as far as color coding my calendar. Kids activities in one color, birthdays/anniversarys in a different one, meetings and doctor appointments in two other ones.

Then I make a weekly and daily to do. It'ts crazy.

This year we are keeping things simple. We are doing Before Five in a Row with work boxes. I have just been using excel to plan out what I am putting in my work boxes. However, I am not loving what I have been using.. I am going to check out the links you shared :-)

I love Donnayoung! I use some planners from her site and LOVE them. Also love that they are free! :)

Another site that has some pages that I use is homeschoolhelperonline (dot)com and use some pages from their Record Keeping tab. We're going to do Character Studies for the first half of our school year from this site. I thought they would be a fun addition for our Bible study this year!
Okay, all of you organized people, I'm ashamed to say it, but I use the 'tell your husband and he puts it in his Blackberry' form. Sorry!

I go back and forth to all different kinds of calendars to keep us on track. Right now, I have the simple $20 monthly calendar and love it...but I'm thinking of just printing the months and putting them together in a folder for next year..

My brain has always remembered the important dates even when they are not in the calendar...ha ha..that has been a little iffy these days!!

I have a planner that I won from Tiny Prints. I am not sure what I will use in the coming year.

National Chocolate Chip Day

May 15, 2012 is National Chocolate Chip Day Today is National Chocolate Chip Day! Chocolate chips are an essential ingredient in dozens of delicious baked goods—chocolate chip cookies, chocolate chip pancakes, chocolate chip muffins, chocolate chip brownies, chocolate chip bagels, and many more. You can even find chili recipes that call for these sweet morsels! In the 1930s, Ruth Graves Wakefield created the original chocolate chip cookie at her Toll House Inn in Whitman, Massachusetts. Ruth intended to bake chocolate cookies for her guests, but she ran out of baker’s chocolate. She substituted with chopped up semi-sweet chocolate morsels and discovered that the pieces did not melt into the dough as she expected. Her cookies were an instant hit. Today, 25% of all the cookies baked in the United States are chocolate chip! To celebrate National Chocolate Chip Day, pick up a bag of chocolate chips at the supermarket and bake something yummy to share with friends and cowor
