Time to Stop and Smell the Roses - Putting the brakes on!

What does that phrase mean to you?

For me and my family - we are slowing down in a big way!

Events, invites, parties etc have already started filling up our calendar from now until after New Years. The hubby and I made a decision that we will are keeping our weekends OPEN for family.  OUR Family. We NEED to have a few days  for just us.  Saying that, I am sorry to my friends who have invited us to parties, events etc and I have declined.

Please KNOW it's not you, it's our family decision.

WE need to slow down and spend more family time together and less time away from each other.   Our weekdays are filled with school activities, sports and other things.  Our children are growing up so fast and time does not stop....Our WEEKENDS -  we are reclaiming.  Obviously church is a priority and that takes up each Sunday morning in it's entirety

SO if you invite me or any of us to an event on the Weekend our YES' will be few and far between.  I am confident that you will understand and know that you can totally relate.
 (especially during the holiday months)

We wish all of you a happy and safe holiday season!

Be Blessed!

I applaud you and admire you in so many ways for this Melissa. This past weekend was one of the busiest we've ever had, and as much fun it was to see a lot of people, we were so drained and disconnected with the people who we see within the four walls of our own home. This is such a big thing in the make up of a good, strong, and healthy family- time for each other. You will not regret this decision, but I believe you'll receive a huge treasure of memories. Love you girl!!!

I am sure you will never regret having more time together as a family. It all goes too fast - you have to grab these moments while you can!

Somehow as the year draws to an end...things get busier. It's the same here too...as I look at our packed schedule I'm beginning to think we need to schedule in rest periods for family alone too. :)

National Chocolate Chip Day

May 15, 2012 is National Chocolate Chip Day Today is National Chocolate Chip Day! Chocolate chips are an essential ingredient in dozens of delicious baked goods—chocolate chip cookies, chocolate chip pancakes, chocolate chip muffins, chocolate chip brownies, chocolate chip bagels, and many more. You can even find chili recipes that call for these sweet morsels! In the 1930s, Ruth Graves Wakefield created the original chocolate chip cookie at her Toll House Inn in Whitman, Massachusetts. Ruth intended to bake chocolate cookies for her guests, but she ran out of baker’s chocolate. She substituted with chopped up semi-sweet chocolate morsels and discovered that the pieces did not melt into the dough as she expected. Her cookies were an instant hit. Today, 25% of all the cookies baked in the United States are chocolate chip! To celebrate National Chocolate Chip Day, pick up a bag of chocolate chips at the supermarket and bake something yummy to share with friends and cowor
