What we will be reading and sharing....

When my husband brought down our very heavy box of seasonal books over the weekend, the children wanted to open the box minute one! It was time to put away our Fall/Autumn books and get out our Winter and Christmas Books (I don't leave these special books "out" year round - I think it makes them more special to bring them out for the Winter months)

Today, I finally opened the box and excitement filled the playroom. I loved listening to them talk about what they remember from these books from last year. We have enough to last us for almost 2 months reading one a day - 8) Plus our library will help fill in the gaps.

National Chocolate Chip Day

May 15, 2012 is National Chocolate Chip Day Today is National Chocolate Chip Day! Chocolate chips are an essential ingredient in dozens of delicious baked goods—chocolate chip cookies, chocolate chip pancakes, chocolate chip muffins, chocolate chip brownies, chocolate chip bagels, and many more. You can even find chili recipes that call for these sweet morsels! In the 1930s, Ruth Graves Wakefield created the original chocolate chip cookie at her Toll House Inn in Whitman, Massachusetts. Ruth intended to bake chocolate cookies for her guests, but she ran out of baker’s chocolate. She substituted with chopped up semi-sweet chocolate morsels and discovered that the pieces did not melt into the dough as she expected. Her cookies were an instant hit. Today, 25% of all the cookies baked in the United States are chocolate chip!
