Collage Friday

It's been a world wind week this week with me coming back from the BEECH Blogging Conference and trying to get back into the swing of things!  Sharing what we have been up to here at The Joys of Home Educating with others at Homegrown Learners Collage Friday!

Homegrown Learners

Caught up on our Groundhogs Day fun!  We started learning about blood and the heart this month!  Kids love Science and I love to teach it!  Of course we celebrated Pancake Day with some yummy silver dollar pancakes!  Molly continued with her MONEY unit and is catching on quickly!

February has a lot to celebrate!  We are learning about China and Ancient China this month. Our Chinese New Year party will be on Monday and we have invited other homeschoolers over to partake in our celebration!  We made snakes (it's the Year of the Snake) and the children are getting used to using their Chopsticks (bought at Epcot this past year)

Next week - Chinese New Year, Mardi Gras and Valentine's day!  WOW that's a fun week!

I invite you to follow my boards on Pinterest if you are not already.

Tomorrow is the 30th anniversary of something life changing for me!  If you are a follower of The Joys of Home Educating on Facebook you will find out what that something is - tomorrow!

until then - be blessed!

Hi - I found your wonderfully-named blog via Collage Friday. Loved seeing what you did this week.
We did a mini-project on Chinese New Year this week, it was so much fun - enjoy your celebrations! You've inspired me to get our chopsticks out!

National Chocolate Chip Day

May 15, 2012 is National Chocolate Chip Day Today is National Chocolate Chip Day! Chocolate chips are an essential ingredient in dozens of delicious baked goods—chocolate chip cookies, chocolate chip pancakes, chocolate chip muffins, chocolate chip brownies, chocolate chip bagels, and many more. You can even find chili recipes that call for these sweet morsels! In the 1930s, Ruth Graves Wakefield created the original chocolate chip cookie at her Toll House Inn in Whitman, Massachusetts. Ruth intended to bake chocolate cookies for her guests, but she ran out of baker’s chocolate. She substituted with chopped up semi-sweet chocolate morsels and discovered that the pieces did not melt into the dough as she expected. Her cookies were an instant hit. Today, 25% of all the cookies baked in the United States are chocolate chip! To celebrate National Chocolate Chip Day, pick up a bag of chocolate chips at the supermarket and bake something yummy to share with friends and cowor
