New Year, Goals, Crafts, Links and a Request

We had off last week of school to enjoy family and all the fun of the season. We are also off this week!

My head is clogged up with so many goals and activities for the New Year.  I am taking this week to regroup, replan and reevaluate our household needs and wants.

If you followed along, for the last two months,  we have changed the way we eat and think about food.  Getting rid of almost all our processed food and eating 90% organic and whole foods (real foods).  We have all transitioned to this new way of thinking and eating without many bumps in the road!  I am also still sticking to my $ 100 - $ 120 per week food budget (for 5 people with lunches included for hubby at work).  I have been able to menu plan and get creative with our budget (not using many coupons).  It is amazing when you cut out the processed food from your food list and add in the organics, the budget really did not change much at all!  (more on this to come in January)

On to the goals....

Personal Goals:

Taking care of myself with more exercise and physical exam.
Less snap judgement with the children. Looking them in the eye and talking to them instead of yelling.
Blogging more with value content.
Trying out new recipes monthly.
Continuing to lift up other bloggers and support them thru continued prayer and social media.
FINISH A BOOK! (great starter, weak finisher)
Learn how to use my camera better.
Wear more of my fabulous jewelry (I am a creature of habit and never mix it up!)

School Goals:

More Science experiments
More field trips
Set a chore schedule and stick to it!
Better use of computer and IPads.

Home Goals:

National Chocolate Chip Day

May 15, 2012 is National Chocolate Chip Day Today is National Chocolate Chip Day! Chocolate chips are an essential ingredient in dozens of delicious baked goods—chocolate chip cookies, chocolate chip pancakes, chocolate chip muffins, chocolate chip brownies, chocolate chip bagels, and many more. You can even find chili recipes that call for these sweet morsels! In the 1930s, Ruth Graves Wakefield created the original chocolate chip cookie at her Toll House Inn in Whitman, Massachusetts. Ruth intended to bake chocolate cookies for her guests, but she ran out of baker’s chocolate. She substituted with chopped up semi-sweet chocolate morsels and discovered that the pieces did not melt into the dough as she expected. Her cookies were an instant hit. Today, 25% of all the cookies baked in the United States are chocolate chip! To celebrate National Chocolate Chip Day, pick up a bag of chocolate chips at the supermarket and bake something yummy to share with friends and cowor...
