February - week 1 - wrap up

Happy February!

February means...groundhogs, Chinese New Year, presidents, valentines, my birthday and more....

Here a look in pictures at our first week this February...

  • Samantha at her belt graduation. She test for blue belt and was successful.
  • Molly and her vest she made from her own pattern and all on her own.
  • We are doing a lot of reading (thanks library) and I am a squirrel whisperer. (in case you are not on Instagram and see all my squirrel pics)

Art studies this week:

Masterpiece Monday:
we studied the life and works of Georgia O'Keeffe.  Come to find out, my husband went to one of her exhibits as a young adult. How lucky!

  • In love with my new LOVE mug and enjoying some tea throughout the day.
  • Again with my squirrels: they come right up to the window by the computer and beg for food. Of course, I oblige
  • My newest obsession: Banana pancakes: just 1 egg and 1 mashed up banana!  LOVE LOVE LOVE!

Lots of LEGOs happening, as always. We are all into the LEGO Stop Motion and making a Valentine themed movie to come out soon!

One of my goals this year is to find ways to make some of our favorite foods from scratch.  This week was pizza dough. There are so many things you can make with this simple dough.  We made pizza for lunch on day and used the other 1/2 of the dough for a dessert pizza - cinnamon/brown sugar pizza.  LOVING new Reynolds baking sheets!  (I received them in exchange for my opinion on Crowdtap)

Lots of groundhog work this week and our bible studies: still in the book of Joseph.

What you did not see:

  • Sewing class (2 times a week)
  • Martial Arts (3 times a week)
  • Last trampoline class tonight

It's snowing pretty good out right now and it's about time!  We have had such an unseasonably warm winter.

Last night hubby took the kids skiing to our local mountain, where they all have season passes, and someone took my husbands skis in a matter of 10 minutes while he was helping the kids gear up. Sad state of affairs.  So now, unless he buys another pair of skis or rents each time, the passes are useless to us 8(

What's up for the weekend:

Baking and cooking tomorrow.
Church and hosting a Family Superbowl party on Sunday!

GO BRONCOS!

I hope you have a wonderful weekend and you can find me and other homeschoolers linking up at:

How awful about your husband's skis! The rest of your week sounded good but that is sure a quick way to put a damper on it all. Here's hoping that some sort of a solution crops up for you all so that the season passes are not a waste.

Sorry about the set back with the skis. Hope you all keep positive and come up with a creative way to use your passes. Glad the rest of your week worked out well. I'm visiting from Weekly Wrap Up.

Most of your week sounded great. I am sorry about your husband's skis. That is so unfortunate. You post such cool pictures. What program are you using for stop motion?
Blessings, Dawn

Oh no, I'm so sorry about your husband's skis.

Your daughter's vest turned out quite nice.
What a lovely week. I love all the food. I think I may be hungry :)

Awesome! Your girl did great on her vest! Sewing isn't an easy thing...at least I've never been able to figure it out. (I can sew a small hole closed though! LOL) Those pancakes would be good with chocolate chips! LOL Legos are such a great "toy", but not so great to step on...We have so many of them around here. I should use them more in our schooling!

National Chocolate Chip Day

May 15, 2012 is National Chocolate Chip Day Today is National Chocolate Chip Day! Chocolate chips are an essential ingredient in dozens of delicious baked goods—chocolate chip cookies, chocolate chip pancakes, chocolate chip muffins, chocolate chip brownies, chocolate chip bagels, and many more. You can even find chili recipes that call for these sweet morsels! In the 1930s, Ruth Graves Wakefield created the original chocolate chip cookie at her Toll House Inn in Whitman, Massachusetts. Ruth intended to bake chocolate cookies for her guests, but she ran out of baker’s chocolate. She substituted with chopped up semi-sweet chocolate morsels and discovered that the pieces did not melt into the dough as she expected. Her cookies were an instant hit. Today, 25% of all the cookies baked in the United States are chocolate chip! To celebrate National Chocolate Chip Day, pick up a bag of chocolate chips at the supermarket and bake something yummy to share with friends and cowor
