Make It Monday - Christmas Crafting with the Cameo

A few years ago I received the Silhouette machine as a gift from my mother and my life has never been the same. ..hehe..ok maybe I am exaggerating a bit, but honestly, this machine is the bomb. I found these enamel cups at an antique shop but you can use paper cups also.  By themselves they are so cute, but I knew they could be even cuter with a little help. Using my Cameo and some vinyl.... I transformed these cute cups into fun whimsy cocoa bar cups, for the children, for the holidays.  Here is what I did - I bought the images from the Silhouette store  (usually .50 to a 1.00 per image but then you own them forever) and cut onto vinyl.  Stick to the cups and there you have it.  (not dishwasher safe) They turned out so cute, don't you think?  Pair them up with some help-yourself cocoa, marshmallows and cookies and you have the perfect Night Before Christmas cocoa bar for the kiddos.  Maybe even a peppermint...

Farmhouse Friday No. 1

Welcome friends to Farmhouse Friday .  Each week I will be sharing with you what has been happening here at Woodwater Farmhouse , recipes, homeschooling and favorites from around the web. I hope you come in and hang out with me each Friday.  Today is Black Friday and it's the first time EVER that I can remember that I am not shopping!  That is because I am pretty much done except for a few on line purchases.  I want to enjoy the holidays so I was on top of it this year. Last week we finished up Thanksgiving teachings in our homeschool.  Some of it has been "fun work" and other times really hitting the books hard.  We only hit the books for Monday and Tuesday and the rest of the week was family time and prepping the home for guests. I was able to carve out some time for a little holiday crafting. Using what nature offers us here at the farmhouse, and some beautiful plaid and buffalo checked ribbon from Michaels, I made some...

Lil' Pumpkin Baby Shower

I am so excited to share a little sample of the baby shower that I had the honor of hosting for my daughter-in-law.  She is due 2 days after Christmas and a fall shower was perfect timing before she did not want to make the hour plus trip up to the farmhouse (those bathroom breaks ya know) .  Lil' Pumpkin  was the theme that I went with. It was seasonal and effortless to decorate.  Flowers, pumpkins, leaf scatter...all worked out perfect. It all started with the invitation. I found these on Etsy at the PartyPrintery shop. I would high recommend the shop and will be using them again.  Aren't they darling!  I also purchased a cute add on card that requested the guests bring a book for the baby instead of a card and to sign a personal note inside the book.  We gave the guests these adorable Jack Be Little pumpkins that I bought from a local farmer. Making the tags on my Cameo was a breeze! I had a large basket on displa...

Weekly Rehash

Welcome friends!  If you are a first timer, thanks for stopping by...if you are an old friend, welcome and nice to see you back!  You might have noticed a BIG change here on the blog...our name has changed from The Joys of Home Educating to Woodwater Farmhouse.  If you want some background on the reason why, then check out this post.   Last Sunday our church had what they called Pumpkin Sunday .  They had pumpkin flavored coffee in the cafe, pumpkins around the church and this beautiful display for families to take pictures in the entry way. You betcha I took advantage of that. All my kiddos looking fairly nice and all together. What where they going to do, argue with me in church?! Daddy helped carve the pumpkins into Jack-O-Lanterns until it poured rain down on us and we dashed inside with everything in tow.   Molly and Samantha dressed up for a haunted house over at Sam's marital arts center and we trick-or-treated for ab...

Tasty Thursday - Chocolate Chip Zucchini Oat Cookies

When I get the time I will go back through my Pinterest pages (after all isn't that why we pin things?! ) Looking through countless recipes on Pinterest using zucchini, I came across this one.  Zucchini Oat Chocolate Chip Cookies WHAT?  A CC Cookie with Zucchini - could it be true? I am here to say YES friends you can have your veggie and cookie all in one! They were light and cake like.  I loved the little hint of cinnamon in them and the fact that they have oats makes it a win win in our home.   These are now my go-to cookie for the fall season!  Hoping to freeze a batch too so I can bring these babies out in the winter too!!
