Farmhouse Friday

Happy Friday Y'all!  Another week flew by!

Here is what has been going on over here at the farmhouse and beyond....

We are all ready for fall and Halloween!  Decorated up!  Sadly we get no trick or treaters because of where we live.

Molly was invited to a special luncheon at one of the public schools in our area.  She had a lot of fun adventuring into a world she is not familiar with.

The deer are getting into everything around here. We had to take the chicken wire fencing down around the garden as they were hurting themselves trying to get in and out to eat what was left. Now it's just a grazing feast for them.

The weather is still strange. One day hot and humid and another cooler temps. We are still not where we should be for this time of year. I want cooler temps!

One thing we don't have is chickens. I have always wanted them but we are not ready for the responsibility yet. BUT our neighbors have a few hundred and some of them make their way up the hill to our home.  The downside, it makes our dog, Lilly (a hunter) go crazy.  Sadly she got out from beyond the fence one day and hurt one of the chickens. We had to have the neighbor come retrieve it.

Last weekend, I had the pleasure of attending the 2:1 Conference in northern Virginia.  I will be blogging about the sponsors that blessed us and what we all did in another post.

We had the pleasure of visiting a friend this week and she opened up her home and sewing studio to us. We made these gorgeous velvet pumpkins and a few other projects.   Sewing is NOT my talent by any means, but these velvet pumpkins were a cinch to make!

In other exciting news - Molly has been asking to take riding lessons for almost a year now.  Horses are a passion of hers. She watches movies, You Tube videos and reads books on horses.  We had a deal, if she read more and hopefully enjoyed it, then we would talk about looking into lessons. Well my friends, her reading shot up like a rocket once she found a series she loved,  We kept up our end of the deal and this week she started her lifelong journey into the equestrian world.  She was in her glory and this mama's heart was full!

In case you missed it, ChalkPastel.com is having a big sale on their Christmas Bundle for art at home. Check it out here

What's up for the weekend:

This weekend we have soccer tournaments on Saturday and I am attending a local event Saturday night.

Sunday is church and we are expecting some nasty weather, so good day for football and NASCAR!

Recipes I have been trying out:

Chicken Recipe - it was a HIT with everyone!
Cowboy Supper - another keeper!

National Chocolate Chip Day

May 15, 2012 is National Chocolate Chip Day Today is National Chocolate Chip Day! Chocolate chips are an essential ingredient in dozens of delicious baked goods—chocolate chip cookies, chocolate chip pancakes, chocolate chip muffins, chocolate chip brownies, chocolate chip bagels, and many more. You can even find chili recipes that call for these sweet morsels! In the 1930s, Ruth Graves Wakefield created the original chocolate chip cookie at her Toll House Inn in Whitman, Massachusetts. Ruth intended to bake chocolate cookies for her guests, but she ran out of baker’s chocolate. She substituted with chopped up semi-sweet chocolate morsels and discovered that the pieces did not melt into the dough as she expected. Her cookies were an instant hit. Today, 25% of all the cookies baked in the United States are chocolate chip! To celebrate National Chocolate Chip Day, pick up a bag of chocolate chips at the supermarket and bake something yummy to share with friends and cowor...
