Christmas Mantel looksee

About time I finished our mantel in the family room. I am one to toy around with it for weeks before I really am married to it.  I think finally finished it today!  This year I am using mostly natural elements that can easily swing from Christmas time to Winter and keep the mantel going until Spring.

This part of the display is to the right of the mantel on the fireplace hearth area.
The sled was s steal for $ 5 at a garage sale a few years ago.

New addition this year that my mother bought for us. It's a canvas painting
that matches perfectly above the sled (pictured above)

Only "spulrge" this year was the metal reindeer from Pottery Barn.

Its hard to tell but the fireplace part actually comes away from the brick wall in the back so
there is some depth to the fireplace.

Stockings will be hung on Christmas Eve.
The fireplace is used almost every evening and we love it!

Thanks for looking and be sure to check out this inspiring party over at

I love the canvas painting! We have a winter scene from the Mitford Series (by Jan Karon) of snowmen when they were popular at Hallmark. Thanks for linking up with us at NOBH!

So very warm. I love it and I am trying to do the same by using more things that I can leave out longer, like the barn animals and the books after I remove the stockings and nativity set. Smart...but then again, you are a home school mama too. ;) We home schooled for over 10 years thru high school. Both are in college in now. The friends made alone were well worth the effort. Hang in there mom.
Christmas blessings!

Collage Friday and a Video

We have had a good week here in NY. The snow is melting and the signs of spring are everywhere!  I am ready for the light coat and to put away my Uggs for the season.   Zachary worked on the Women and Children of the Revolutionary War - and some fun Scholastic - Super Science!  He is always working on his IPAD playing Scrabble, Words with Friends, Monopoly, Stack the States and Stack the Countries. The girls and I talked about what is happening outside with the plants and animals. Waking up!  Sammie also enjoyed this Sofia the First Unit. We had so much fun making our Chocolate Volcano Cakes from our Raddish box this week.   Of course some Spring crafting was in order. We made these easy cupcake paper and button flowers pictures. Also using some kitchen sponges (for stamping)  from dollar store to make these beautiful spring cards.  Thursday Science - again going to our Raddish box and finding a cool experiment. ...
