Farmhouse Friday

Happy Friday!  Happy Veterans Day to all those who have served our country. Thank you.

I also way to wish a Happy Birthday to my bestie, partner in crime, soul sister and "sister wife" - Tina!  Her birthday is Tuesday!  KISSES my friend!  I love ya with all my heart and all my soul!

Welcome to another Farmhouse Friday!  November is here and we are ready for it!  We winterized the camper, the pool is closed and we put our patio furniture away..so now it will get warm again..HAHA  Isn't that the way it always works?

In case you missed it, we started a new Science Curriculum a few weeks ago from BJU Press.  Oh my word, we are HOOKED, line and sinker on this Science 4!  You can read more about it in my post!

Tis the season for more baking (and more eating). The girls have been busy in the kitchen.  They both love to cook. We freeze a lot so we can pull it out over the busy holiday season when friends stop by.

Molly is hooked on puzzles.  She found this one (sorry about the glare) at AC Moore and fell in love with it.  Her horse passion lives on!

Love this selfie of Lilly and Molly.

We had farmhouse visitors last week and my heart was full!  My son, his wife and their daughter and Auggie the doggie came for a visit.  Margaux started walking and pointing and making all kinds of fun noises.  More in love with her each time we see her.

Bread making 101!  This crusty bread can't be beat.  SO easy to make and you will eat it in 1 day!  I used it for making the bread boats (with dip inside them) for gatherings. Oh so good and budget friendly!

We had our first frost this week and snow flurries!  Bring it on we say. We are lovers of the snow. Something about the silence outside when it first snows and the change of seasons, that makes my soul happy.

We had the pleasure of sharing a tradition with my daughter's Tae Kwon Do Grand Master this week. He gifted us a Korean Tea Set. It is beautiful (this pic does not show it's real color - robin egg blue). We spent some time one afternoon with him as he taught us the tradition of tea drinking and taking time out to be still. Something none of us do enough of. So now the girls want to have tea all the time. New traditions started!

Speaking of traditions - we (ok me) started decorating for the holidays. That's right, it's coming early this year!  I don't want to stress in December and want to relax and bake and enjoy. That said, slowly but surely, I am putting up our trees and filling the farmhouse with Christmas music, smells of the holidays and lots of farmhouse Christmas decor.  I added two additional trees this year. Total of 10, but that is it (for 2017).   Thinking I might do a house tour this year so you all can see the craziness joyfullness here at Woodwater.

Besides the usual, sewing lessons, riding lessons, playdates, soccer ending...we had the treat of my husband being home a lot this week. He had 16 days left of vacation time for this year and he decided to take some time this week to get a lot of little projects done around the farmhouse.  It's so nice having the help.

This weekend - tomorrow the two older kids and myself are helping our church youth group with Rake and Run. The children will help out by raking leaves and taking them away for people in our community.   Then tomorrow night we have a roast beef dinner at my mother's church (always a yummy time). Sunday we will miss church as a good friend is having a 1st birthday party for her son at the same time.

Then it will be Monday again...and, if we are blessed, we get to do it all over again!

Enjoy your day and be blessed

National Chocolate Chip Day

May 15, 2012 is National Chocolate Chip Day Today is National Chocolate Chip Day! Chocolate chips are an essential ingredient in dozens of delicious baked goods—chocolate chip cookies, chocolate chip pancakes, chocolate chip muffins, chocolate chip brownies, chocolate chip bagels, and many more. You can even find chili recipes that call for these sweet morsels! In the 1930s, Ruth Graves Wakefield created the original chocolate chip cookie at her Toll House Inn in Whitman, Massachusetts. Ruth intended to bake chocolate cookies for her guests, but she ran out of baker’s chocolate. She substituted with chopped up semi-sweet chocolate morsels and discovered that the pieces did not melt into the dough as she expected. Her cookies were an instant hit. Today, 25% of all the cookies baked in the United States are chocolate chip! To celebrate National Chocolate Chip Day, pick up a bag of chocolate chips at the supermarket and bake something yummy to share with friends and cowor
